Sorta Newbie says "HI"

Postby Gorillamusha » Sun Jun 10, 2012 11:45 am

Hi Guys! I used to be on this forum for a short time about a decade ago, and I wasn't too big into computers back then. Now I couldn't love them more, and it has been too long away. So with my new user name, I will hope to talk shop, commiserate and have gear envy, and really get to learnin. I regret to admit, I am a bit embarrassed by my current build, but it does ok. I would like to get an ASUS g75vw with quad-core Ivy Bridge 3720qm, with 16 gb ram, and a 750 gb 72000 rpm drive, with a 256 gb ssd as start up. A bluray drive and windows 64bit. I will plan on partitioning iOS lion on there too.

Right now I have a 2008 Black Macbook with a dual core 2.4ghz intel with 3mb L2 cache and 4gb ram. Integrated intel hd 3100 graphics. (like I said, embarassed...lol)

I am glad to be on this forum, and I can't wait to hear advice from experts. :D

Hey there Gorillamusha, welcome "back" to the forum. I see that you are looking to get an Asus laptop, good man! I have a couple of them myself. You can't overclock them much (if at all) but they are solid machines and come with some cool software.

btw what was your previous forum name??

I was originally Master Hama... I think that's how it was spelled. It was like a decade ago... I used to go on the gaming corner almost exclusively back then.
PS- what kind of software were you talking about? Is it like a custom GUI bios or something? Thanks.

My asus slate tablet comes with some fun software that controls aspects of the tablet like bluetooth, wireless etc... You can also get some of the overclocking software but that is only available with the discrete graphics cards and motherboards
