Blowing Stuff Up at [H]ard|OCP
They sound so proud when they break stuff it is almost sickening. Here is the story, using a couple of VapoChill units (not sure what that means), an ASUS P4G8X motherboard and the latest 3.06Ghz Pentium 4 processor the [H] guys set out to make and break 4.2Ghz. Breaking is what ended up happening, under the extreme change in temperature the processor "exploded" (more like cracked) disconnecting the heat spreader from the processor core cracking it down the middle.
"While booting the machine up for another round of testing, I heard an audible *POP* come from the inside of the open VapoChill PE case, and the monitor went black. Anyone who has ever overclocked their processor knows the horrible feeling you get when this particular combination of events happens. "
