Nvidia Expected to Dump GeForce FX??
Some rumors don't hold enough water to be taken seriously.
"SOURCES CLOSE to Nvidia tell the INQUIRER that the graphics firm has told its partners that the GeForce FX is likely to be discontinued, with the firm instead concentrating on the NV35 platform.
The sources said that the firm has made the move because of an update that its bitter rival ATI is expected to soon roll out of the door."
Kyle from [H]ard|OCP posted info over the weekend about this move by nVidia, concluding that the GeForceFX Ultra would never reach retail shelves. Considering the performance, and lateness to market I think getting the NV30 out the door and quickly washing their hands of it is the best move for the company. Now they can move full bore into NV35 production and hopefully get rid of the huge blower.
