"Surprisingly, things actually get worse at night. Anything below the horizon is invisible. Even looking straight on it's next to impossible to make out the digits. Once again you have to look slightly from the top down to see anything, meaning if you get this unit check to see if either your PC is on the floor or you have an available bay that's below your line of horizon. This was actually an issue with the DigiDoc as well, but backlighting still beats out side LED illumination. I guess you can't have it all for cheap though. "
This is basically the same thing as this transfer panel reviewed here except about 200x cooler.
