Gigabyte creates dual-GPU graphics card
Tom's Hardware posted a little something about the new dual GPU video card from Gigabyte that came equipped with two 6600GT processors in SLI mode. There have been many dual GPU cards in the past, the Obsidian 2 X-24 and 3DFX Voodoo 5 come to mind but ATI and XGI also dabbled with dualies. My only concern would be related to GPU timing since the card sits in a single 16x PCI Express slot and SLI enabled systems use 2 8x slots.
"The card integrates two Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT graphics processors and is the first 6600 GT card on the market to offer a total of 256 MByte DDR 3 memory and 256 Mbit of memory bandwidth, according to the manufacturer. The card is cooled by two on-board fans."
On a side note I think this marks the first time I have ever linked directly to a Tom's Hardware posting. This is also despite being dissed on by a Tom's Hardware editor at Computex 2003. To the guys credit he was trying to fit in, but like me stood out like the n00b he was.
