Motherboard Basics @ Big Bruin

Knowing the motherboard basics won't get you hot chix (or d00ds) at the local bar but will help you if someone asks you "WTF is a chipset".

AMD and Intel have since been traveling down their own, relatively parallel, paths of performance and speed increases, while using different designs. Selecting a motherboard for a modern AMD processor eliminates the use of any Intel processor, and vice versa."
I remember that. Using the same socket was actually pretty cool though didn't really save you much from an upgrading standpoint.
