Intel X48 chipset preview - ASUS Style @ EliteBastards

The FSB keeps ramping up, it would seem that Intel has taken a major play from the nVidia playbook with a new 6-month release cycle.

So, what do we have by way of improvements in X48 over its forebear? The simple answer is - Nothing major. Most of the under the hood changes to the X48 chipset concern tweaking the design and components with a mind to adding official support for Intel's latest, 1600MHz FSB CPUs.

This also appears to be a DDR3 only chipset which would mark the first major reason to upgrade to the expensive and scarse DDR3 platform.
