Nvidia says it is not quitting the chipset market

Seems nVidia got really upset over the latest Digittimes deboccle.  In fact there are 2 retractions posted on their site.

The first is just a title change to the original news post

The second post is a retraction.  I just love the last sentence.

Nvidia has released an official statement refuting the recent Digitimes story claiming that the company is planning to quit its chipset business. Michael Jong, senior director of corporate marketing for Nvidia indicated that Nvidia has no intention of getting out of the chipset business and that the report is completely groundless.

Jong stated that Nvidia's MCP business is as strong as it ever has been for both AMD and Intel platforms, and pointed out that Mercury Research reported Nvidia's market share on AMD platforms was 60% last quarter. The company added that SLI was still the preferred multi-GPU platform and that the nForce 790i SLI is the recommended choice by editors worldwide.

Nvidia is looking forward to bringing new and very exciting MCP products to the market for both AMD and Intel platforms, Jong stated.

A previous Digitimes report cited sources as saying that Nvidia was planning to exit the PC chipset business.

Cool Stuff happy smile
