Crucial T710 2 TB M.2 SSD Review @ TechPowerUp
TechPowerUp reviewed the Crucial T710 2TB as one of the fastest PCIe Gen5 M.2 SSDs currently available. Built with the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller and Micron's 276-layer TLC NAND, the drive includes 2GB of LPDDR4 DRAM and delivers up to 12,400 MB/s read and 11,800 MB/s write speeds. In synthetic benchmarks, the T710 topped the charts in 4K random read IOPS and mixed workloads. The large 368GB dynamic SLC cache helped maintain exceptional write speeds nearing 3.3 GB/s even under sustained load, making it one of the best-performing drives tested on this platform.

The Crucial T710 PCIe 5.0 SSD is built using the new Silicon Motion SM2508 controller paired with Micron's new 276-layer 3D TLC NAND flash. This is a winning combo, which makes the SSD the fastest drive we have ever tested. Energy efficiency is also improved over SSDs using the Phison E26 controller.
In the performance tests, the T710 continued to impress with leading scores in game load times, application responsiveness, and content creation tasks. It even outpaced Samsung's Gen5 flagship and beat most high-end Gen4 drives by a small but consistent margin. Power efficiency was also a standout, with idle draw of around 5 watts and peak usage below 8.5 watts. The drive operated within safe temperature ranges using only a passive heatsink, though an active one is still recommended for heavy workloads. TechPowerUp concluded that while the T710 comes at a premium price of around 280 US dollars, it delivers record-setting performance for enthusiasts and professionals seeking the very best in SSD speed.
