  • Cogage Arrow CPU Cooler @ Pro-Clockers

Published: Friday, May 7, 2010 | By: Will

In the Spirit of all the heatsink reviews we have done I thought I should post up the Cogage Arrow review. This is another company that is owned by Thermalright and this cooler reminds me of the Inferno. Well let's read to see if it just as powerful as the Inferno.

"The Cogage Arrow is large aluminum and copper heat sink that I would like to think of as the Cogage Spirit X2. Like the Spirit the Arrow is a tower design that consist of dual towers and not just one. In this era of air-cooler size and weight are pretty much threw out the door in the name of better performance. The Arrow weighs in at 825 grams or one pound thirteen ounces. And measure just over six inches high from base to last aluminum fin. The design is definitely saying dual fan setup even though it only comes with one. But will the size and weight but Thermalright back at the top of the hill? We will see."

I do like the look of it.happy smile

  • ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme first look @ Elite Bastards

Published: Friday, May 7, 2010 | By: Will

Looks like AMD has really made a mark with the new Phenom II X6 processors. It has been a while since anyone has seen any kind of special boards made for them. Now we get to see this beast coming from Asus that has about every technology you can think of for the AMD platform.

"This is topped off by arguably the jewel in ASUS' crown on this occasion - The inclusion of a Lucid "Hydra" chip, to allow the use of multi-GPU configurations that mix AMD and NVIDIA graphics boards of varying specifications and configurations. We've previously only seen this chip launched on an MSI motherboard thus far, so it should be more than a little interesting to see how Lucid's technology fares when coupled with ASUS' Crosshair IV Extreme offering."

I'm diggin the color scheme.approve smile

  • Nvidia Ends Support for AGEIA PhysX Processors

Published: Thursday, May 6, 2010 | By: Will

I call shenanigans on NVidia for killing off the support of my PhysX card. How am I ever going to get PhysX to work now on my machine. I bought that card at least 3 years ago and expect it to be support for at least the next twenty years. This is horrible news I tell you. cry smile

"It seems that owners of AGEIA PhysX Processors are out of luck. A user by the name of 666 from PhysXInfo received the following email from Nvidia: The current PhysX driver unfortunately does not support Aegia PPU hardware which you're already aware. Support for Aegia PPU ended after the 8.xx.xx driver but like you we've receive other users asking to include support in current PhysX releases."

I guess it is time to let my GTS250 do the work.approve smile

  • Battle Of the Titan Water Blocks @ Bjorn3D

Published: Thursday, May 6, 2010 | By: Will

You know that watercooling for the PC is getting close to being mainstream when there is not just one but two roundup in a weeks time. Once again I'm stoked to check out this review to see if the EK blocks will win.

"Since I absolutely loved the movie Battle of the Titans, both the original and the remake, and we at Bjorn3D.com happens to have the three most top end water blocks on the market. We felt the title was fitting.

Most of us all know who the top three water block manufacturers are. Just recently, these top three water block manufacturers released new improved water blocks to their line up. We at Bjorn3D.com are going to pit all three of these top three water blocks against eachother. In a true Bjorn3D.com fashion, we are going to stick to a rather tight and strict temperature limitation of 60°C (+/- a couple of degrees) on our proven and ever cranking Intel Core i7 930 CPU. We are also going to mount these CPU coolers onto two different motherboards, one of these is the reliable Gigabyte X58A-UD3R (review can be found HERE), and then we're going to strap these CPU coolers onto our Asus Rampage II Extreme (review can be found HERE) to check out the clearances on both of these motherboards. We are all aware of some incompatibilities on certain motherboards when it comes to these higher end water blocks."

I am taking bets on a third roundup by the end of the week.tongue smile

  • GIGABYTE 890GPA-UD3H 890GX AM3 Motherboard Review @ Hardware Canucks

Published: Thursday, May 6, 2010 | By: Will

The AMD marketing machine is at full power for the new Phenom II X6 release. With these new processors come the motherboard chipsets as well. Which AMD has that covered as well with some very robust 890 series chips. Here is a review with one of these chipsets for everyone to enjoy.

"The current motherboard market is full of feature rich high end products but finding a capable mid-range board can be a lesson in frustration for many users. AMD's new 890GX looks to be an answer for many consumers who are looking for the perfect mix of performance and features while retailing for less that $150. But can it live up to everyone's expectations by offering AMD users something Intel's faithful are still waiting for?"

  • Ninjalane HWBot Ranking Update

Published: Tuesday, May 4, 2010 | By: Dennis

Some of you may be familar with HWBot, (http://www.hwbot.org).  It is a website dedicated to finding out the limits of computer hardware by taking a community approach and awarding points to members that score well.  While you can use standard hardware and get a result the real fun is getting points by overclocking your hardware.

Well, Ninjalane has a HWBot team and while our team is quite small (12 Members right now) we are doing extremely well in the rankings.  The team is currently ranked 13th in the US and 123rd in the World!! cool smile

    .

The HWBot team is an open enrollment so if any of you are curious about the fun you can have overclocking your gear stop by the forums and we'll let you know how to get started.  Likewise if you currently overclock and your team is gotten a little "meh" lately give us a look.

  • NGOHQ Responses to HardOCP's False Accusations

Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: Will

Looks like we have a storm brewing from the recent Hybrid PhysX Mod, but it is not from NVidia. Nope it is from HardOCP noting that the tool might have a trojan in the package. So now the saga is moving onto a response from the software host site.

"It has come to our attention that HardOCP has recently published false accusations regarding GenL's PhysX Mod. HardOCP claims that mod is infected with a Trojan and recommends avoiding it and avoiding files offered by NGOHQ.com. HardOCP hasn't even bothered to contact us to request clarification, response or explanation before it published the story. In addition, HardOCP's Kyle Bennett has posted the following fascistic comment on his forums: "NGOHQ will never again see a link on HardOCP and within a few days, the name will be banned from being typed here at all. The only reason it is not right now is so that it can be discussed easily."

We have checked GenL's latest mod by using advanced tools and we couldn't find any record of malicious content in it. The file is fully clean and safe, like all the other files hosted here. However, some Antivirus software does detect it as a Trojan, but that's just a false positive due to the included EXE packer. Software developers use packers to compress their executable files and protect them from being cracked and debugged, a well known fact by every software developer and end-user. GenL is forced to use a packer since Nvidia has blocked his mod in recent drivers and it is likely they will try to do it again. GenL has even warned users regarding the false positive issue in the FAQ."

  • ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer (P55 Express) Motherboard

Published: Monday, May 3, 2010 | By: Will

I love it that the line between sever chips and enthusiast taste for speed is getting a great mix. I wonder how these new boards for the 1156 Xeons are for overclocking. I guess it is time to read.

"ASUS is known for many things; they make great enthusiast class motherboards and add-in GPUs. But how many people know they also make workstation and server class products? - We have known about this for a while and have finally gotten one in (complete with a socket 1156 Xeon for the CPU) for testing in our lab.

The P7P55 WS SuperComputer is a healthy system that also happens to have the ability to run a ton of GPUs at full x16 speeds thanks to an NF200 chip on the board. It is this multi-GPU capability that gives it the SuperComputer name. After all, if you are pushing four NVIDIA GPUs running CUDA or OpenCL, you have a massive amount of compute power at your fingertips."

So many cool things to choose from.tongue smile
