Microsoft Unveils Project Natal a 3D Motion Sensing Camera @ Techfragments
Published: Tuesday, June 2, 2009 | By: WillThis is a very cool new item coming from the Microsoft camp. Everyone has to check this toy out.
Microsoft Unveils Project Natal a 3D Motion Sensing Camera
Microsoft, in an attempt to challenge the Wii motion remote, has
unveiled a new 3D motion capture camera that integrates full-body
motion into the Xbox 360 game console. Code-named Project Natal, the
3D camera is able to translate movements into onscreen play - without
even holding a remote or device in your hand. Furthermore, the XBox
360 3-D motion sensing camera is also able to recognize facial and
speech movements that allow a more personalized experience with the
gaming console. A video demonstration shows a kid telling the xbox 360
to "take picture" and the camera took a picture of each side of his
real skate board in a few seconds. A few seconds later, the kid was
flipping through skateboards in a skating game and selected the one he
just imported with the picture and began skating with it. -
BFG EX1000 1000W PSU Review @ JonnyGURU
Published: Monday, June 1, 2009 | By: WillThe BFG Tech EX Series PSUs have been on the short list of interest at Ninjalane. Looks like JonnyGURU takes the newest EX1000 out for a spin, and things just don't look as good as they should. Take a read, and see what you think.
"I've looked at several BFG units in recent months, but none have piqued my curiosity as much as this week's review subject. The EX1000 belongs to a brand new line of units from BFG, bringing the "Frequency Conversion" feature from their previous high end unit to a new platform that adds the magic words "modular cables" to the deal.
Grab yourself a coffee, pull up a chair, and we'll find out just what this new line from BFG brings to the power supply party."The PSU does fair okay, but the commentary is excellent.

Vista SP1 vs SP2 @ TestFreaks
Published: Monday, June 1, 2009 | By: WillWith Windows 7 making such a huge splash lately with the free 1 year testing and all. The new Service Pack 2 for Vista has really went unnoticed for the most part. Well don't fear teh TestFreaks look to change that and shed some light on the subject.
"So... Service Pack 2 arrived with not a lot of celebration, not much has been really mentioned about it at all anywhere. Being who I am though I like to know things, so I decided to run a whole bunch of tests before and after the upgrade and compare them to see just what, if anything, might have changed. "
We have get this one and see what we notice here at Ninjalane.

AMD's 'Istanbul' six-core Opteron processors reviewed @ TechReport
Published: Monday, June 1, 2009 | By: WillLooks like AMD is getting back into the server game, and we can only hope the trickle down effect comes into play. Ninjalane would love to get our hands on one of these bad boys.
"The new "Istanbul" Opteron packs six cores into a single chip, which makes it the fastest, most power-efficient Opteron yet. But can it match Intel's formidable Nehalem Xeons? The answer might surprise you--in more ways than one."
I am so hoping for a consumer real soon.

News and Computex Updates
Published: Monday, June 1, 2009 | By: DennisHey everyone, Just a friendly reminder about how site updates will happen this week. As some of you may know I'm in Taiwan again covering Computex which is a day ahead and 12 hours different from my normal schedule. Whenever possible I'll be posting direct news updates of cool stuff but that will not always happen so be patient and keep checking back.
The current plan is to have daily coverage like before but depending on what goes on after the show that may or may not happen. Seems with every Computex I attend I get yet another after show party invite.
. (I'll try posting some infor about these parties as well)
Also if there is something you have heard about and want to see more drop by the Ninjalane Message Forum and let me know. I'll be checking it from time to time..

A closer look at fresh versus used SSD performance
Published: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 | By: DennisThinking about moving to SSD? Might want to give this a read.
The block rewrite penalty inherent to flash memory has interesting performance implications for SSDs. As we've discovered, some SSD controllers cope much better than others when facing well-used drives.
I'm still on the fence, the SSD stuff is pretty cool but not so much mainstream yet.

Sparkle GTX260 Core 216 GeForce GTX 260 Videocard Review @ PCSTATS
Published: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 | By: DennisSparkle has been doing some great stuff with videocards in the past by including fancy coolers and LED displays to show various things like frequency and voltage.
Seems this GTX260 is just a plain jane.
Sparkle has teamed up with nVidia to produce the Sparkle GTX260 Core 216, a graphics card that stands as a direct challenger to AMD's Radeon 4870 graphics card. The "Core 216" part of the Sparkle GTX260 Core 216 videocard's name refers to the GPU having additional shader processors enabled. While the original Geforce 260 GTX had 192 shader processors, the Core 216 variant has an additional 24 enabled, for a grand total of, you guessed it, 216 shader processors.
With any luck we'll be visiting with Sparkle at Computex this year.
