Intel is just running scared says Nvidia
Published: Wednesday, February 18, 2009 | By: DennisThe web is abuzz around the new nVidia lawsuit.
Huang thinks that since Nvidia is getting so popular Intel needs to initiate a dispute over a contract signed four years ago because Ion, SLI, Hybrid power, and CUDA threaten Intel's ability to control the PC platform.
"They're attempting to prevent us from operating," an NV spinner told the INQ. "They want the entire platform, they don't want anyone else to innovate."Not sure if I agree with that statement but you have to admit the following to be true.
1) This is the first time in recent history where the CPU makers are the only ones making chipsets for their processors. (In the past Via, nVidia, SIS all made chipsets for AMD and Intel)
2) Multi GPU technology from ATI and nVidia is currently "common" only to the latest Intel chipsets.
3) nVidia is the only company without a current chipset to support their own multi GPU technology on either platform.
So what does that all mean?? On the surface it appears to be a strong arm tactic towards a new, powerful, and highly innovative company to muscle them out of the market.

Intel files suit against Nvidia @ Bit-Tech
Published: Wednesday, February 18, 2009 | By: WillMy, oh my, how I have missed my Hardware Soap Opera's. Thankfully Intel decided to get all of us back into the action. Intel FTW!
"We have just learned that Intel filed suit against Nvidia late last night in which it alleges that the four-year old chipset license agreement the two companies signed is not valid for Intel's current and future generation CPUs with integrated memory controllers."
NVidia's has already came back with this statement "GPU FTW!". Not sure but it sounds very threatening.

NL: Gaming Review Roundups
Published: Wednesday, February 18, 2009 | By: WillHere is a couple PC game review on the net. This also includes one of my favorite games FEAR 2.
F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven
"Developer Monolith created F.E.A.R. in 2005 and it presented a great combination of a horror setting with some brilliant gun fights and frenetic online action which appealed to many PC gamers. The horror elements are very reminiscent of movie The Ring and there was more than one occasion when I jumped from my chair during a cutscene or particularly unsettling game section. You played as the mysterious lead character and had to deal with waif child Alma, a rogue commander and an army of clone soldiers. The game made a swift journey to a brilliant ending which caught many people by surprise and with F.E.A.R. 2 the plot is radically different."
Rise of the Argonauts - PC Review @ Gamepyre
There is very little action compared with all the running around that you have to do. The game feels more like you're running errands instead of actually playing a game. And when the action does come around, the whole strategy to fighting in this game revolves around button mashing. Only the boss fights offers some sort of challenge. It also seems that in the entire game there are only like maybe five or six unique enemies. From a gaming perspective this game is boring. The only way I would recommend getting Rise of the Argonauts is if you're going through a terrible spell of boredom.

Casinos Warn of New iPhone Card Counting App
Published: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 | By: WillI cannot wait to see the geek get his butt kicked over playing with his iPhone at a Casino.
"Gaming commissions in Nevada are informing casino's that a new card counting program has made its way to the Apple iPhone, called Hi Lo. This program can be used in the Stealth Mode. When the program is used in the Stealth Mode the screen of the phone will remain shut off, and as long as the user knows where the keys are located the program can be run effortlessly without detection. Randall Sayre, of the Nevada Gaming Commission says "Use of this type of program or possession of a device with this type of program on it (with the intent to use it), in a licensed gaming establishment, is a violation of NRS 465.075."
I give it 2 weeks till we see video's on YouTube of Geeks meeting Casino Knock Around Guys.

Pirate Bay P2P Trial Begins in Sweden
Published: Monday, February 16, 2009 | By: WillHere is something for all of you P2P guys need to be watching. If this thing goes down in a bad way. Well it is going to get real ugly for all BitTorrent folks everywhere.
"The Pirate Bay's copyright infringement trial is now under way in
Sweden, becoming one of the most watched P2P trials. The site is
accused of helping users illegally downloaded movies, music, computer
games, and more from its web site. If the site owners are convicted,
they could spend two years in prison and a fine around $150,000. In
addition, many of the leading companies in the motion picture
industries are wanting an additional $14.3 million. The Pirate Bay is
the world's largest source for BitTorrent trackers, while they do not
host illegal content they do provide a means of finding such content.
In May 2006 the company was raided by Swedish police who seized their
servers and in January of last year the owners were charged with the
copyright infringement."I got my popcorn. Let the show begin.

U.S. video game sales show continued strength
Published: Friday, February 13, 2009 | By: DennisSAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - U.S. sales of video game hardware and software rose 13 percent in January from a year earlier, led by Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii console and DS hand-held systems, market researcher NPD said on Thursday.
The results presented more evidence that even in the middle of a brutal economic downturn, U.S. consumers are willing to spend on video games.
Total industry sales in the month climbed to $1.33 billion, NPD said. All the people that are getting laid off need to have something to do. Speaking of... who wants to LAN at the end of the month?

Cooler Master Storm Sniper @ Swemod
Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: DennisThis is one of the latest cases to come out of the Cooler Master lab and features an oversized power button and top mounted dial next to the front panel connectors. The dial is of course a fan controller, I would expect other mfgs to be offering similar things in the not too distant future.
On the front of the case we can find in the top the logo of the case, “Sniper”. Moreover we see that the front bays are made out of mesh metal pieces and we have a total of five bays, with the last one doubling as a 3.5 inch bay.
In the front at the bottom we see another honeycomb mesh metal piece and behind this we find a fine masked fan filter, which may prove to be a bit difficult to clean as you have to remove the honeycomb mesh before you get to the fine masked filter. If you like photos you'll love this review, lots to see

Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: WillHere is some PC game reviews for everyone to enjoy.
Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven
Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty - and with the Slash guitar riff the newest Electronic Arts game makes its entrance on the PC platform. The game is set in the fictional setting of Paradise City and it is up to you to win races, take shortcuts and reach the finish line faster than anyone else. Winning Challenges gets you new rides and better licenses to take on more difficult challenges. Has this console favourite made a good entrance to the PC market?
Far Cary 2 Reviewed @ TheTechLounge
"Far Cry 2 is a game where you kill people for three things: diamonds, malaria pills, and fun. You're a Doom Guy in search of one man in the middle of an African shitstorm that's full of people who could care less and people who can do more. You're not there to solve problems, unless the problem is that someone stands breathing. And yeah, you got the marsh fever."

Intel 32nm Westmere Desktop Processor Roadmap Exposed @ Legit Reviews
Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | By: WillThe one great thing about computer hardware is even in ugly economic situations. We still get to see cool new stuff coming out at rapid speed.
"The first Intel 32nm Westmere products will feature both a processor core and an integrated graphics & integrated memory controller on a single processor. What makes this design so interesting is that the processor core is 32nm and that the memory controller and integrated memory controller are on a separate 45nm die. Intel has perfected the 45nm process since they have been doing it so long they have made the gates inside the processor perform better. Since the integrated graphics and memory controller is located on a separate die it is rumored that you can adjust the power settings and clock frequencies better than on one die. Intel took their current 65nm integrated graphics technology and shrunk it down to 45nm and added all the performance tweaks to get even more performance..."
I just got my i7 920, and I already want one of these new guys.
