QuakeCon 2008
Published: Tuesday, August 5, 2008 | By: WillQuakeCon is going on. This is a wonderful time for all of us Ninja Fraggers to set at a table, and eat up the carnage. Still there is more to QuakeCon then the guts and glory of gaming. There is the softer side like awesome modded cases. Let's read this and see what else QuakeCon 2008 has to offer.
"QuakeCon is many things to many people. For the pro gamer it is a place to show your skills; challenging the best of the best and competing against the world's top teams in everything from Guitar Hero to different variations of Quake. Gamers old and new travel to Dallas, Texas every year, trying to compete for their piece of the prize money.
Computer enthusiasts who do not compete on the professional level also attend QuakeCon. Many are there to participate in LAN gaming in what is known as the BYOC, or Bring Your Own Computer. This area features some of the world's top enthusiasts, some flying in from places like Sweden, Germany and even Asia. The computers they bring are often one off, custom enclosures that take up to several months to fabricate."
QuakeCon 2008 FTW!

Intel Letting The Larrabee Out
Published: Monday, August 4, 2008 | By: WillCome one, come all to the greatest show of them all. Intel has just started a whole new grudge match in the hardware arena. Here gives a good read on what to look for out of the new GPU from Intel.
"Intel today takes a portion of the veil off their upcoming Larrabee architecture, so we can better understand its implementation, how it differs from a typical GPU, why it benefits from taking the 'many cores' route, its performance scaling and of course, what else it has in store."
Place your bets right here.

DFI sees increased shipments of casino machines
Published: Monday, August 4, 2008 | By: DennisGo DFI!
Taiwan-based industrial PC maker DFI saw 49% of its total revenues for July 2008 come from casino machine shipments to the US and Europe, much higher than the 17% recorded in July 2007, according to the company.
The increase in shipments was because casino operators have been replacing their gambling machines, DFI pointed out. Shipment volumes in August and September 2008 may be the same, or higher than in July, DFI indicated.
DFI's revenues in July rose 39% on month and 97.6% on year to reach of NT$326 million (US$10.6 million) thanks mainly due to the booming casino machine sales, the company noted.
