Overclocking and WindowsXP x64 Edition
Published: Sunday, January 1, 2006 | By: Dennis" PCStats thought it would be interesting to see how overclocking is affected on the WindowsXP x64 Edition platform by illustrating both 32-bit and 64-bit benchmarks for an AMD Athlon64 4000+ based system. Would the test platform be stable enough to overclock successfully? Would WindowsXP x64 Edition require a more stable processor than its 32-bit counterpart does?"
The results are quite surprising however the biggest drawback is the lack of 64-bit programs thus rendering the 64-bit OS for the most part useless. -
THE 100 MOST ANNOYING THINGS OF 2005
Published: Thursday, December 29, 2005 | By: DennisThis might be one of the coolest lists I have come across, no doubt there will be more.
"36 ADULT HARRY POTTER FANS
Harry Potter is a fine series to read…when you’re twelve years old! Actually I just put this here to see how much hate mail I’ll get from stupid people who just skim read the list. I actually enjoy reading the books and wish J.K. Rowling was my Sugar Mommy." -

Gigabyte GA-G1975X Motherboard Review @ Hexus
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 | By: DennisYou totally have to check this board out!
"Just one look at the Gigabyte GA-G1975X let's you know that this is an enthusiast-orientated motherboard. The i975X chipset-based motherboards will all tend to be premium versions with high street prices, so product differentiation is absolutely key. Gigabyte's decided that overclocking should play a large part in the GA-G1975X's makeup, and a couple of plastic ducts are designed and implemented to cool the hot-running components in and around the CPU socket area. Keeping in with adding fancy names for basic technology, this board is the first of the G1 Turbo line, epitomised by the custom cooling."
I can just see the onslaught of jet theme case mods after this board hits the streets. -
MSI K8N Diamond Plus (NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16) @ Hardware Zone
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 | By: DennisTwo things are most always true, blondes rarely make their hair darker and MSI will always get a favorable review at Hardwarezone.com.
"Feature-wise, the K8N Diamond Plus is set to wow. Besides the obvious nForce4 SLI X16 chipset, the board comes with dual Gigabit Ethernet, VIA 3-port IEEE 1394a and a total of six SATA II ports. Both additional Ethernet (Marvell 88E8053) and SATA II (Silicon Image SiI3132) controllers are PCI Express based for better throughput performance. The most touted addition to the board's repertoire of features is the embedded Sound Blaster Audigy SE, setting the board apart from all its competitors."
Yep, pretty pimp. The board also got the most overclockable Product Award, though I couldn't tell what that ment. -
Galaxy GeForce 7800GTX 512MB @ TweakTown
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 | By: DennisYou don't see Galaxy much in the US since their primary market is in Europe and Asia however with the advent of the Internet we can sample a little bit of their goodness.
"Galaxy is a new brand for us here at TweakTown and are a Hong Kong based company that we should start seeing down here in Australia. The big thing about this card is the RRP that we have been given - at $999 Australian Dollars, this is the cheapest 512MB 7800GTX card that we have seen to date." -
Intel EM64T Technology Explained @ Hardware Secrets
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 | By: DennisIt isn't a secret anymore.
"Intel has released their “64-bit technology” in order to compete with AMD’s 64-bit technology. This technology, officially called EM64T (Extended Memory 64 Technology), is present on Pentium 4 6xx models. In this article we will explain what is this technology and how it works."
Not sure how well you can really explain the ins and outs of 64-bit processors in 3 pages or less but they try. After reading it over one thing becomes very clear. (which most of us already knew)
You require a 64-bit OS and 64-bit programs to use the 64-bit extensions in both the Intel and AMD processors. There I said it. hheh -
Edifier e2100 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System Review @ ModSynergy
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 | By: Dennis"The subwoofer is the weakest link. There is not enough power allocated to it. It generally feels weak when you play music on the lower volumes and when you make your way up you can hear the bass, but cannot feel it. You need to position the subwoofer box next to you to even get the chance of feeling it."
You have to keep in mind the sub is only 4" with a total RMS output of 8W. you can't expect much.
Be sure to check out Our Edifier Review it isn't the same system but in the same class. -
Raidmax RX-9 Gaming Case Review @ 3D Game Mang
Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 | By: DennisThis case is very similar to the Raidmax Samurai that we recently reviewed with the inclusion of aluminum construction, LED display, and side window.
" Oh, I almost forgot another feature of this case. It also comes with a remote. The remote enables the user to start or shutdown the system and/or control the fan(s). It's a rather tiny remote, resembling a large biscuit. So be careful not to misplace it or eat it for breakfast!"
They also think the case looks "cheap".
