Crucial Ballistix PC3200 Memory Review @ OcPrices
Published: Tuesday, November 9, 2004 | By: Dennis"Crucial has always had a great reputation for making bullet proof, high quality memory, but if the truth be told they have not really been a realistic enthusiast’s choice since the PC133 days, at least until now."
Many long time Ninjalane readers will remember my stance on Crucial, and just to think I used to pimp them pretty good back in the early days. -
EPoX EP-8RDA6+ PRO Review @ PyroPort
Published: Tuesday, November 9, 2004 | By: DennisIn the see of Athlon64 reviews we are quick to forget about the tried and true AthlonXP. (Though many of us would rather forget about cracked cores and fried BIOS's
)
"If you want to milk your Athlon XP for all it's worth before taking the plunge into Athlon64 then I would recommend it."
This is pretty much your standard nForce2 board with a ton of onboard extras. -
3Rsystem Poseidon series roundup @ Kande.be
Published: Monday, November 8, 2004 | By: DennisHaving trouble with what Poseidon watercooling kit to buy?? Then you should check out this review at Kande.be.
"The packing of the four watercooling-kits look virtually the same. The only difference is the product number that has been marked. We recieved the WCL02 and a WCL03 kit. Each of these two watercooling kits are also divided in a 90cm radiator and 120cm radiator variant." -
Danger Den Maze4 GPU cooler at MadShrimps
Published: Monday, November 8, 2004 | By: DennisWanna know the best way to screw up your copper waterblocks??
"So my next option was to try the Danger Den GPU water block, unfortunately oxidation took its toll, and through my handling (taking photo's etc.) I'd placed a few striations in the base plate as well. Removing the oxidation alone would require lapping, as this was prior to my having Arctic Silver's ArctiClean which would have saved valuable time.
Being a perfectionist, I immediately broke out an EasyPCKits Premium Lapping Kit and got to work. "
I'm not saying that lapping is all that bad, in most cases the cooling device can benefit from the process. However with how thin the bases are on modern waterblocks you can easily sand completely thru. -
Logisys SP6002CL Clear Speakers @ Hardware WarCry
Published: Monday, November 8, 2004 | By: Dennis"Are your current 2.1 speakers just not living up to the expectations you have? Well, Logisys has delivered us a great 2.1 speaker set, that promises to deliver great sound, as well as looks great! The looks are certainly unique, but this is definitely a unique set of 2.1 speakers. Read on to see all the details!"
This might be the shortest review I've seen since A1-Electronics, and about as useful.
Cool speakers though, you normally see them with the Apple displays at the local CompUSA. -
asetek Hard Drive Water Cooler @ Viper Lair
Published: Monday, November 8, 2004 | By: DennisNow here is an approved asetek review if I ever saw one.
"Another problem which is becoming more of a concern these days is the issue of noise. Even silent fans generate some noise, and coupled with the various fans in your case and on your heatsinks, your computer can be the cause of many headaches if the noise levels are left unchecked."
I've been using HDD coolers for years now and can swear by their performance though I've discovered that in most cases the GPU fan or HDD itself makes more noise than a dual fan under drive HDD cooler. -
Gigabyte nForce4 Photo @ t-break
Published: Monday, November 8, 2004 | By: DennisLooking at this board you can see some classic Gigabyte "I ride around in a custom limo" style. Across the top you see the extra power module connector, blue PCB, and multicolored expansion slots.
After closer inspection you can also see that the 16x PCIe slot is right in line with the MCP heatsink! Not exactly the best place for it IMO. -
ThermalRight XP-120 for the LGA 775 @ Hi-Techreviews
Published: Monday, November 8, 2004 | By: DennisThis is one big ass cooler reviewed by an over-critical editor
"The base arrived with one small mark which is visible in the photo, this mark could not be felt with your thumbnail it was more a case of blemish in the finish that the camera made look worse. Checking the overall flatness of the base with a high quality machinist rule and a flashlight showed the XP-120 to be perfectly flat."
All things aside I think the heatpipe solution is pretty cool. -
Ninjalane WAN Party - Game Chosen (UT2004)
Published: Friday, November 5, 2004 | By: DennisI would like to thank everyone that voted in the WAN party poll. So far the leader is UT2004 and that's what we are going to roll with. The game will be Onslaught.
The rules for this WAN party will be a little different than before since I'd like to make it more of a Ninjalane event than just running a game server over the weekend.
Visit the following Ninjaforum thread for details on the WAN Party and for instructions on how to sign up. -
DFI LanParty UT nF3 250Gb @ PC Modding Malaysia
Published: Friday, November 5, 2004 | By: DennisWe were hoping to get the 939 version of this board into the Ninjalane Labs but both versions are rather difficult to find. This review contains some pretty good information but nothing really quotable so you'll just have to check it out on your own.
