Radeon X800 Pro/XT Pre - Review

If what is being shown is true, the NV40 might be dead before its even on the shelves.

AMD to introduce 32-bit K8
Published: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 | By: Dennis"Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) aims to strengthen its position in the entry-level processor market by introducing a 32-bit CPU, codenamed Athlon XP Paris, in the third quarter of this year, according to sources at Taiwanese motherboard makers.
The 754-pin Paris will be targeted for the desktop and will be fully based on the K8 micro-architecture, with 256KB of L2 cache, but will not support AMD64, i.e. x86-64 technology, said the sources.
With the introduction of the Athlon XP Paris, AMD’s existing Athlon XP Socket A/462 processors will be gradually phased out, the sources said." -

Made from a plastic corrugate (I believe) the package itself is fairly side, and all of our components are nestled securely inside wedged between two thick pieces of foam. Everything arrived safe and undamaged. "
I can attest to that, the box and WaterChill package is pretty big but works great. -

Intel blames motherboard manufacturers for broken socket 775s

" Intel has ordered manufacturers to use this new 775 socket and this time you have to place the CPU on top of the pins praying that all 775 pins actually touch the right connection on the 775 points of the Prescott.
It you do this correctly then everything is fine and dandy, but if not you can damage either the board or the CPU or both, we have learned." -
Demonic XTC Waterblock Review @ Water-Cooling

The Top plate is engraved with "Demonic XTC" in quite a clean readable font but one or two of the letters are a bit messy, and there are a few light scratches around the edge of the letters."
Just about everything in this review I can agree with though some of the complaints seem to be a little extreme. Check out our review of the same block for comparison, -

nVidia Overclocking with Coolbits

If you're searching for it, it's on the first page right here for you. Not only do I have coolbits but I have the lines to give you the AGP settings panel and the refresh rate override panel. Late edition was the Additional info tab which was submitted by Krick. Thanks man for letting me know about this additional hidden tab."
Coolbits is actually an old hack that is still used today by many overclockers and mfgs. For instance the Gainward overclocking utility installs the Coolbits hack so that you can run the card in "Enhanced" mode. -
