Epox 8KDA3+ Review @ t-break
Published: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 | By: Dennis"The number of nForce3-250 chipset based motherboards keep increasing by the day. Today we take a look at Epox’s offering modeled 8K3A+. For the last couple of years, Epox has been producing very decent motherboards and today we find out if they can offer something that the competition cant."
The thing I find interesting is the lack of an "n" in the product name considering that this is a nVidia enabled motherboard. :)
Though joking aside the nForce3 250 should be the bomb for both 754 and 939 pin Athlon64's -
Epox 8HDA3+ Review @ MetkuMods
Published: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 | By: Dennis"Green PCB used to be quite ordinary some time ago but nowadays almost no one else than Epox uses it. Green is my favourite colour so if I say that 8HDA3+ looks great no one believes me. However it seems that Epox has chosen not to try attracting case modders out there and so no fancy LEDs or UV-active memory slots or something like that. Works for me at least."
I seem to remember saying that with the variety of multi colored motherboards on the market the once common green color might finally be back in style. It would seem that some might agree. -
Gainward 5900XT Series Investigation @ PC Unleashed
Published: Monday, May 10, 2004 | By: DennisOne you get past the Mac in the header graphic and the blonde holding the Gainward 5900XT you get a fairly in-depth article covering graphical aspects, driver solutions, and BIOS flashing of the 5900XT series GPU.
"I contacted Gainward a month ago, requesting to lend us the video card. The reason that I was so eager to review the card was, I’ve heard an interesting information from our international affiliate sites. That Gainward’s 5900XT can easily flash the card into a full fledged 5950Ultra."
Considering the hardware differences between the two cards and the inability to "hot flash" a video card I would think a mod like this is quite dangerous. -
Microcool Northpole Chipset Cooling Review @ TwistedMods
Published: Monday, May 10, 2004 | By: DennisThis is the same cooler that we just reviewed here. This is a great little unit though it might be a little too loud for some of you. Then again if your already overclocking then what the hell.
"Aside from a small smudge the bottom of the cooler is fairly smooth, but there is definite room for improvement. We noticed that machining marks are still visible on the bottom, so lapping the heatsink would provide an ideal surface for heat transfer." -

VIA K8T800 Pro chipset Overview @ The Tech Report
Published: Thursday, May 6, 2004 | By: Dennis"The trick to the 1GHz HyperTransport link, by the way, is a 5X multiplier on the HyperTransport clock. The HyperTransport link will still show up in the BIOS as a 200MHz "LDT bus" or "front side bus," but the available multipliers won't top out at 4X any longer."
The new K8T800 pro chipset isn't much faster than the K8T800 though does perform better in a few business-oriented benchmarks. Though with how the Athlon64 designed it is more important to find a chipset/motherboard with the support you need than if it is 2fps faster than the competition. -

EPoX 8KDA3+ Review @ Hexus
Published: Thursday, May 6, 2004 | By: DennisThe Athlon64 processor is still very new and many people have hesitated to migrate to the new platform because of this, and for good reason. Both nVidia and VIA have released updated chipsets that come with new features allow the user to finally lock the PCI and AGP clocks.
"Both NVIDIA and VIA were quick, some say too quick, to release chipsets based around AMD's Athlon 64 Model 3xxx CPUs. NVIDIA's nForce3 150, in particular, was lambasted for lacking many of the features inherent in the older nForce2 design. How, we said, could a company release a supposedly better product with far fewer features?. "
The Epox 8KDA3+ a nForce3 250 board supporting the 754pin Athlon64, though they had some problems with the board the chipset still holds a lot of promise. -
Microcool NorthPole Chipset Cooler Review Posted
Published: Thursday, May 6, 2004 | By: DennisGood aftermarket Northbridge coolers are fairly hard to come by especially if you are using the Intel i865PE or i875P chipset. The NorthPole cooler from Microcool solves this problem provided that you can stand a little noise.

Alpha S-PAL8952 Review @ Hard-h20
Published: Tuesday, May 4, 2004 | By: DennisAn Alpha review at a watercooling site, what is the world coming too.
"In this close photograph we can clearly see the markings that identify the heatsink. The fins density is quite remarkable. They are perfectly squared."
Alphas are designed to have the fan pull air thru the heatsink unlike what you find on many mainstream cooling solutions. This is just something to keep in mind if you check out this review.
