Bytecc Aluminum Mobile Enclosure Review @ TechTastic
Published: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 | By: Dennis"Do you need a way to transfer huge amounts of data between computers and a flash drive just won't do the job? Well Bytecc has just the thing with their Aluminum Mobile enclosure. This handy gadget converts any hard drive into a USB device."
This enclosure from Bytecc is by far one the most versatile products I have ever used and recently became a permanent addition to the Ninjalane Labs. Check out our review here -
CasEdge Limited Edition Gamer Case Review @ Extreme Overclocking
Published: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 | By: DennisI've been noticing a growing trend in the pre-mod case market to totally transform the case into something a little more artisy. Case in point the Raidmax "Alien'ish" Case seen at Computex and now the CasEdge Minotaur.
"The Diabolic Series cases are available in several trendy colors: Electric Yellow, Venom Green, Storm Blue, Blood Red, and Arcane Purple. Power supply choices come in 300w, 350w, or 400w, and are ODM for CasEdge by SPI (Sparkle Power Inc)."
Both look pretty sweet. -
Evercool Extended Cooling System @ A True Review
Published: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 | By: Dennis"There are generally three states the computer’s CPU can be in: load, idle, or off. Processors are hottest during load. When idle, though not as hot as load, the CPU is still quite hot. Finally, when the computer is off, the CPU will eventually cool to room temperature. Of course, you all knew that."
What ever became of "Ride hard and put away wet", oh wait that only applies to horses. -

Web Traffic Downward Sprial
Published: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 | By: DennisIt would appear that the fight for Ninjalane web traffic was lost over the Christmas holiday. Pageviews are still on the up and up but total user sessions are down. Kind of sad really but what can you do?
I have a couple of cool reviews in the pipe that will be posted in the next couple of weeks. Exciting stuff even, so stay tuned. -
SIS760 Preview @ accelenation
Published: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 | By: Dennis"While we don’t have a board in our labs yet, we will have one very soon. From the preliminary benchmarks we’ve seen, the SIS760 is very competitive with similar low-end add in card solutions."
An the preview is rather short too. -
OCZ EL DDR PC-3700 Gold Edition Review @ Madshrimps
Published: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 | By: Dennisohhh shiny!
"The Asus P4C enables PAT automatically when the FSB <= 200Mhz, this will set the RAS to CAS at 2. OCZ PC3700 did not work with this setting. So putting the PAT at standard instead of auto/turbo solved this issue, choosing memory timings CL2 2-3-5 the system booted up without problem and was stable up to 208Mhz.
Earlier PC3700+ memory had problems running at CL2 with such tight timings, but these sticks can handle it as long as you put RAS to CAS at 3."
I don’t believe what is being described here really is really the root of the issue at hand. I did however have similar problems with the Abit IS7 board and after a short discussion with Corsair it was discovered that the memory controller was actually at fault. This is a known issue and something that Intel has never fully addressed. To solve the problem Corsair had purposely set the RAS to CAS at 3 since 2 will cause system failures.
So to recap, its not PAT nor the memory module but rather the Intel chipset. (both Canterwood and Springdale). The issue with the Asus BIOS is an entirely different issue. -
Scythe Kamakaze Heatsink Review @ Frosty Tech
Published: Monday, December 29, 2003 | By: Dennis"The Kamakaze heatsink looks remarkably similar to the Alpha Novatech PAL8942 which was one massive, and very effective heatsink. Perhaps then, it is just a coincidence that both Alpha Novatech and Scythe are based in Japan."
This heatsink is pretty dang big but comes with mounting hardware to fit both the Pentium 4 and Athlon XP processors. -
Chieftec BX Front Panels @ Raptor-Mods
Published: Monday, December 29, 2003 | By: DennisWhen casemodding it is very important to start with a case built of quality material by doing so you ensure that the mod will look good and last for a considerable amount of time. For the less avid modder out there the case styling can also become a factor so having an easy way to change the look is a plus.
"Well what can I say? Chieftec have come up with a great way of changing the look of your case with out having to buy expensive window kits or other modding products, just simple clip on/off panels that install in under 5 minutes." -
T-Cube from T-Engine
Published: Monday, December 29, 2003 | By: DennisThis is something that you will just have to see to believe but these tiny computers are about the size of a regular orange.
"On the exhibition TRONSHOW 2004 taking place in Japan was shown the set of interesting computer decisions. Microcomputer T-Cube was the most interesting exhibit in my view."
The above quote is made possible by Babelfish.
