Abit Mounts Strong Comeback in Mobo Market
Published: Friday, September 19, 2003 | By: Dennis"In a bid to recoup market share, Abit has utilized new techniques to develop products that do not fall into the same segments as those of major competitors. Its high-end MAX3 line is targeted mainly at power-users such as gamers.
Except for slower progress in the North American market, the motherboards are enjoying a brisk and sustained sales recovery in Asia and Europe. Total shipments reached 190,000 units in both July and August. Lin is confident that the figure will rise to over 200,000 in September." -

Gainward Powerpack FX Ultra/1600 GS CoolFX Review @ Digital-Life
Published: Thursday, September 18, 2003 | By: DennisIt makes you wonder who would shell out 900 bucks for a video card. Especially, for the one that overclocks the same as those ones on air. On the other hand, if they made one, someone will probably buy one.
"The center of our attention today will be a video card outfitted with a water-cooling system. I don't think many would want a card priced at 800 euros. That is why the Gainward Powepack FX Ultra/1600 GS CoolFX will be reviewed just because it's interesting to take a look at such a unique product as this is the first video card coming with a water cooler." -
CoolerMaster Heatsink Madness
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisToday is one of those days where we get a lot of same product being reviewed on different sites. In this case, it's CoolerMaster Aero and the new Jet heatsinks. To make it more convenient, we rounded all the reviews here:
- Coolermaster Aero 4 P4 Cooler @ 3DXtreme
- CoolerMaster Aero 4 Lite Heatsink @ PimpRig
- CoolerMaster Jet 7 Heatsink @ Madshrimps
Of course, here is our own review on Aero7+: -
CoolerMaster Jet 7 CPU Cooler @ Voided Warranty
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisThe cooler does look very nice and original. Especially, if coupled with aluminum case and a silver PCB motherboard, like one here.
"I'm surprised at how quite it is on high speed. It didn't do too badly against a fan that was turning almost twice as many RPMs. It was only a two-degree difference on high speed. It looks very cool in the case and the red and white LEDs add to the effect." -
X-SuperAlien Case Review @ Furioustech
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisThe case looks like another mod of ever-popular Chenming case that produced a ton of pre-modded cases sold by various on-line stores.
"Cases so many choices, well I had the opportunity to review a modified case called the X-SuperAlien, an all aluminum case packed full of features. This case almost does your laundry! Well maybe I am telling a bit of a tall tale. Want the whole lowdown then read on my friends, and see what I mean!" -
nVidia GeForce FX5900 Ultra Video Card Review @ Adrian's Rojak Pot
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisEven though nVidia's last year was not one of the best, but hopes are up that nVidia will showcase something trully revolutionary at this year's Computex. If it will, Ninjalane is going to be there to report it.
"While the NV30-based GeForce FX 5800 Ultra card was a total flop, NVIDIA grit their teeth in the face of fierce competition from ATI and worked hurriedly on its replacement - the NV35. Eventually, the NV35 became GeForce FX 5900 Ultra" -
Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition 3.20 GHz
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisThis is what I call a mega proc.
"Burns demonstrated consumer products that are available today or will be in the near future. This included a high-definition video stream running on a previously unannounced desktop processor, the Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition 3.20 GHz supporting Hyper-Threading Technology, with an additional 2 Megabytes of cache. This new processor will be targeted at high-end gamers and computing power users."
I also heard rumors that this proc comes unlocked, none of us will know for sure until they hit the market. -
