Gainward Powerpack FX Ultra/1600 GS CoolFX Review @ Digital-Life
Published: Thursday, September 18, 2003 | By: DennisIt makes you wonder who would shell out 900 bucks for a video card. Especially, for the one that overclocks the same as those ones on air. On the other hand, if they made one, someone will probably buy one.
"The center of our attention today will be a video card outfitted with a water-cooling system. I don't think many would want a card priced at 800 euros. That is why the Gainward Powepack FX Ultra/1600 GS CoolFX will be reviewed just because it's interesting to take a look at such a unique product as this is the first video card coming with a water cooler." -
CoolerMaster Heatsink Madness
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisToday is one of those days where we get a lot of same product being reviewed on different sites. In this case, it's CoolerMaster Aero and the new Jet heatsinks. To make it more convenient, we rounded all the reviews here:
- Coolermaster Aero 4 P4 Cooler @ 3DXtreme
- CoolerMaster Aero 4 Lite Heatsink @ PimpRig
- CoolerMaster Jet 7 Heatsink @ Madshrimps
Of course, here is our own review on Aero7+: -
CoolerMaster Jet 7 CPU Cooler @ Voided Warranty
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisThe cooler does look very nice and original. Especially, if coupled with aluminum case and a silver PCB motherboard, like one here.
"I'm surprised at how quite it is on high speed. It didn't do too badly against a fan that was turning almost twice as many RPMs. It was only a two-degree difference on high speed. It looks very cool in the case and the red and white LEDs add to the effect." -
X-SuperAlien Case Review @ Furioustech
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisThe case looks like another mod of ever-popular Chenming case that produced a ton of pre-modded cases sold by various on-line stores.
"Cases so many choices, well I had the opportunity to review a modified case called the X-SuperAlien, an all aluminum case packed full of features. This case almost does your laundry! Well maybe I am telling a bit of a tall tale. Want the whole lowdown then read on my friends, and see what I mean!" -
nVidia GeForce FX5900 Ultra Video Card Review @ Adrian's Rojak Pot
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisEven though nVidia's last year was not one of the best, but hopes are up that nVidia will showcase something trully revolutionary at this year's Computex. If it will, Ninjalane is going to be there to report it.
"While the NV30-based GeForce FX 5800 Ultra card was a total flop, NVIDIA grit their teeth in the face of fierce competition from ATI and worked hurriedly on its replacement - the NV35. Eventually, the NV35 became GeForce FX 5900 Ultra" -
Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition 3.20 GHz
Published: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 | By: DennisThis is what I call a mega proc.
"Burns demonstrated consumer products that are available today or will be in the near future. This included a high-definition video stream running on a previously unannounced desktop processor, the Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition 3.20 GHz supporting Hyper-Threading Technology, with an additional 2 Megabytes of cache. This new processor will be targeted at high-end gamers and computing power users."
I also heard rumors that this proc comes unlocked, none of us will know for sure until they hit the market. -
DFI Launches the New INFINITY Series
Published: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 | By: Dennis"Hayward, CA (September 17, 2003) – DFI, the worldwide leader in performance and corporate motherboard manufacturing, today announced the unveiling of a new line of motherboards at Computex, the INFINITY series, aiming at performance users on a budget. Leveraging DFI’s expertise in motherboard design and the popularity of the LANParty series, the INFINITY is created with the most discerning overclockers and hardware enthusiasts in mind who demand best price/performance.
Available in both the Intelâ and the AMD platforms, DFI will offer three INFINITY models at launch: 875 INFINITY, 865PE INFINITY and NFII Ultra INFINITY. Taking advantage of what the latest chipsets have to offer and incorporating the groundbreaking CMOS Reloadedâ overclocking utility and Super PATCH performance enhancer, the INFINITY series delivers exceptional stability and power every overclocker values.
Based on the signature crimson red PCB, the INFINITY series is equipped with advanced features important to the target audience: blazing fast dual channel DDR400 support, Serial ATA RAID, patented RAID 1.5, 6-channel audio, Gigabit LAN and high speed Firewire. To complement the LANParty series featuring the industry’s first UV sensitive slots and sockets for case modders, the INFINITY series aims to deliver nothing but a stunning PC experience."
Did you see that! a Crimson Red PCB!! yay! -
DFI Revolutionizes the Concept of Overclocking
Published: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 | By: Dennis"The Revolutionary Change Since Jumperless
Changing the way enthusiasts “tweak”, CMOS Reloaded removes the need to manually record settings on paper and reset configurations during the trial and error process. Unlike conventional motherboards that allow for only one set of CMOS configuration, DFI’s new technology offers up to 4 sets per computer. Depending on the application used and the processing power needed, users can choose between configurations to maximize resources and take full advantage of what PCs have to offer.
Advanced CMOS Functionality
Combining hardware design and software engineering, CMOS Reloaded allows users to save their desired configuration settings using the Backup command. Variable between motherboard models, the user can save from 2 to 4 sets of configurations with different operating systems associated with each. Whether it is used for intensive gaming, complicated computer development environment or simple Word processing, the user can choose to Load any one of the previously saved configurations to meet the requirements. To further provide a seamless switch between configurations, users are now able to define their own “hot keys” and bypass the lengthy process. Echoing the trend and to satisfy the need for personalization when a perfect “tweak” is achieved, CMOS Reloaded’s Rename feature allows configurations to be saved to reflect their significance. Be it the overclocker’s name, a date, or a high score, CMOS Reloaded offers complete customization for the true enthusiasts."
CMOS Reloaded will be officially launched at Computex on September 23, 2003 and is available in the upcoming LANParty and INFINITY models: LANParty PRO875 (Rev. B), LANParty NFII Ultra (Rev. B), 875P INFINITY, 865PE INFINITY, and NFII Ultra INFINITY.
Not to mention that Ninjalane will be there to cover the entire event. -
Kingston HyperX PC4000 Review @ Extreme Overclocking
Published: Monday, September 15, 2003 | By: DennisI've been trying to get some of this HyperX memory in the Ninja Lane Labs for testing but haven't had much luck in getting a reply from them folks at Kingston. I would appear that I will continue using the uber Corsair mems.
"These modules are also single sided meaning that the semiconductors are only on one side. Some believe that single sided memory is able to overclock higher than double sided because they are less dense and have less noise. HyperX PC4000 is rated to run at DDR500 at 3-4-4-8-1 timings at 2.6V. The timings are relatively conservative but allow for the higher speeds. It is extremely difficult to find memory that can run significantly tighter timings at the same speeds unless extreme voltages are used."
