  • Kingston HyperX PC4000 Review @ Bytesector

Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Another problem we faced was that the memory works great at the two ends of the memory setting (between 400 and 500) anything close to the middle, the system becomes unstable. This is apparently was caused by the memory timings used on the modules. So if you got a pair of these RAM modules and not satisfied with them cause of instability, then try changing the memory timings (with in reasonable range) and am sure that problem can be fixed."
This is the new DDR500 paired memory from Kingston and it appears to do pretty well though they had a little trouble between the two major landing points.

  • XFX GeForce FX 5600 Review @ radikalmod

Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

A really cool card that comes in a really cool box, too bad I can't read any of the text. tongue smile By the looks of it the cooling solution seems to be two slots high though only cools the GPU, not really the best cooling solution but it works I suppose.

  • Sapphire ATI Video Card Review @ Gamers Depot

" Its two latest cards, the Radeon 9600 Pro and 9800 Pro have nothing really to differentiate them over other comparable solutions except two things – an orb cooler and the Redline Overclocking utility – both of which are pretty cool."
This article does a really good job at showing you the speed differences between the 9800 and 9600 ATI cards.

  • ATI AIW 9800 Pro Review @ Tech Juice

Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

The juice is loose and reviewing the latest and greatest ATI chip the 9800 Pro. This is the famed AIW (All-In-Wonder) version meaning that not only can you play games with it but you can also watch TV and record movies.
"The ALL-IN-Wonder 9800 Pro is still for the multi media enthusiast that wants it all. But if you are still a hardcore gamer there is little reason to look elsewhere this time as the newer model does quite well in the overall 3D gaming benchmarking arena. Awesome as it were. The ALL-IN-Wonder 9800 Pro was not meant solely for gaming either."

  • EPoX 8KRA2+ Review @ Techware Labs

Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

This Epox motherboard is sporting the new VIA KT600 chipset that fully supports the new 200Mhz FSB Athlon processors. Unlike the nForce2 it still uses a single channel memory controller.
"The VIA KT600 Northbridge is sheltered by a large copper passive heatsink. The larger heatsink dimension of 1.5" x 1.5" x 1.25" is suppose to compensate for the lack of a heatsink cooling fan. Beneath the heatsink is the VIA KT600 northbridge. EPoX used the sticky pink thermal compound commonly found on stock AMD coolers."
Has anyone noticed how all of the new Epox motherboards are looking alike now days?? Epox EP-8RDA+ for board layout comparison.

  • Xoxide X-Viper Case Review @ PimpRig

Published: Monday, August 11, 2003 | By: Dennis

"I was very impressed with how well the window was cut, the corners are perfectly rounded and the edge is smooth as silk. All of the fans are branded as iCute fans, but I have no more information on CFM, RPM, or dB."
Here is one of them "pre-modded" cases from Xoxide. As a modder I will always lean towards a good high quality "un-modded" case over a cheaply constructed "pre-mod".

But that is just me. big grin smile

  • Bawls and Co-Ed Naked Counterstrike

Normally I wouldn't include such things as Counterstrike but by adding the words "Naked" and "Bawls" you get something so curious only a "confirmation click" can satisfy the urge. Blame ZZZ online Number 174 for the sexual reference, and hot chix

  • Thermaltake Silent Boost Review @ Legit Reviews

Published: Sunday, August 10, 2003 | By: Dennis

Here is a new heatsink from Thermaltake called the "Silent Boost".
"I found it ironic that the day after I was complaining about how I wanted a heatsink that was silent yet could handle the healthy 800Mhz overclock on our Athlon 1700+ office computer, the Silent Boost arrived. Not only is it darn close to being silent it also allows for some pretty heavy overclocking. This was a major factor to us as we didn't want to loose any system performance by going to a quieter heatsink and fan. Thanks to the Thermaltake Silent Boost, we didn't!"
Be sure to check out our Volcano 11+ Review to get a rough idea as to how well this new heatsink will perform.

  • SteelPad 4S Optical Review @ Modsynergy

Published: Sunday, August 10, 2003 | By: Dennis

"During using this mouse pad, it provided smooth tracking with no problems. As usual the Logitech MX700 is the only mouse that seems to have problems with some mouse pads and that is present with the SteelPad 4S. The Crystal mouse and my Logitech Optical Wheel mouse work flawlessly. The only downfall is some people will not like the noise that comes from the mouse pad. The mouse skates dampen the sound out but not all."
I can't imagine the Steelpad being any noisier than a RatPadz but then again we are dealing with metal and a resonation frequency so anything is possible.
