  • Chenbro CH11L-BK Review @ Maximum OC

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

"They include a swivel power switch (like a PSU switch but it snaps back) and they include a button that isn't a reset button (something else), but they also give you a reset button in a plastic bag."
Rack mounted cases aren't for everyone; the racks are expensive and can take up a ton of space.

  • Heatsink Lapping Kit Review @ OC Ware

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Lapping serves one purpose - to get better temperatures. Because of this, it's fairly common practice among those looking to squeeze every last megahert out of thier processors. Lapping is simply grinding the surface of your heatsink, waterblock, or processor down slightly in order to smooth out the bumps and imperfections."
You can also make your own lapping kit with a quick trip to Home Depot. happy smile

  • VIA EPIA M10000 Nehemiah Mini-ITX @ Me No Geek

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

The site is actually called "I Am Not A Geek",but I think they are in denial. happy smile maybe we should go attend some GA meetings this weekend, any takers?
"Taking our first look at the EPIA M10000 itself, we can recognize some of the basic features in the below left image: 1 PCI slot, 1 DDR slot, 2 IDE connectors, 1 floppy connector, and the embedded 1GHZ Nehemiah C3 processor with heatsink/fan. Before taking a closer look at the features of the mainboard, lets compare its size to a standard ATX form factor motherboard."
Talk about SUPA! small, the board could fit just about anywhere. I can see it now, 6 Mini-ITX boards in a 1U server case rackmounted with 200 others in a huge Linux cluster. Now that would be geeky. big grin smile

  • Abit IC7-G Review @ Digital-Daily

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

Canterwood is where its at if you are itching ot run a 800Mhz FSB Pentium 4. big grin smile
"The conclusion - the Abit IC7-G board has very powerful overclocking potentials. And a testing overclocking proves this: the board worked stable on FSB=284MHz, and this was 3.4GHz for the testing processor Pentium4 with 2.4GHz."
The 2.4C processors are actually pretty cheap, I might just have to go out and buy one. That is unless someone at Intel is nice enough to send one over. wink smile

  • Intel Adding 800MHz FSB 3.2GHz Pentium 4

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Intel is set to introduce one more 800MHz FSB (front-side bus)-based Pentium 4 processor, running at 3.2GHz, on June 23, according to the company’s roadmap. The new processor will be priced at US$637.

After the addition, Intel will maintain stable pricing for its P4 products through the third quarter, with the next round of price cuts scheduled for October 26."

Be sure to check out the price matrix chart.

  • Single-Channel 865 Chipset??

Published: Saturday, June 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Regarding the rumored launch, board makers said that it would not be difficult for Intel to roll out a single-channel product, which would only require adjustment in the memory support of Intel’s current chipsets. However, although the move may press other chipset designers to engage in a fiercer price war, manufacturers noted that it is also likely to affect sales of Intel’s 845PE chipsets, of which the chip giant still holds quite a bit of inventory."
Gotta move inventory, else you go broke storing it.

  • Chili Pro Micro ATX Review @ TechJuice

Published: Thursday, June 5, 2003 | By: Dennis

"While disassembling the case, I was amazed to find that the refinements of the case were not limited to the exterior. Every surface and edge were smoothed and rounded to prevent lacerations. "
This is sooooo very important and not something you can tell from looking at a picture.

  • Water vs. Air @ Comp-Shop

Published: Thursday, June 5, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Most overclockers and hardcore gamers are always trying to push their CPUs to its limit but this causes the CPU to produce more heat so what should you cool your CPU with? You can choose from air cooling or water cooling."
This article is kind of short so maybe we should chalk it up to personal preference? Do you want it loud or quiet? happy smile
