Intel Guys Not Guilty
Back in the wee 2001 VIA pulled a fast one on Intel by reverse engineering an Intel chipset to obtain vital info about the Pentium 4 CPU bus, then decided to market an unlicensed version of it under the VIA name. Of course tempers flared at Computex that year and some un-named Intel peeps decided to take matters into their own hands, or VIA was just pissed that their balloons popped and blamed Intel for the sabotage.
Either way Intel is off the hook.
"The Taipei District Court on December 31 ruled that the four defendants whom VIA Technologies accused of destruction of property at the Computex Taipei 2001 trade show were not guilty."
VIA on the other hand is still unhappy.
"As usual with legal cases, Intel Taiwan declined to comment. VIA, however, indicated that it would appeal the ruling."
Dem must have been expensive balloons.
