A trio of affordable Core i7 motherboards @ TechReport

Published: | Posted By:

We do love Core i7 here at Ninjalane however we will admit platform is pretty expensive to get into.  Boards and processors are expensive and since Core i7 uses a lower voltage DDR3 module you'll need a new triple channel DDR3 kit as well.  Luckily memory prices have come down crazy fast so that part is easy.

The first wave of Core i7 motherboards were prohibitively expensive, but a new batch has arrived that brings prices down to the $200 range. Join us as we take affordable X58 motherboards from Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI for a spin to find out which is best for a budget.

Sadly DFI and Foxconn are not in this roundup, but then again they are on the upper end of the price spectrum.
