MSI MPG A1000GS PCIE5 Power Supply Review @ Funky Kit

Published: | Posted By:

FunkyKit evaluated the MSI MPG A1000GS as a compact, fully modular power supply designed to meet the demands of modern high-performance PCs. Rated at 1000 watts with 80 Plus Gold certification, it supports ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. The unit includes native 12V-2x6 (16-pin) connectors for next-gen GPUs, along with multiple 6+2 pin PCIe, SATA, and Molex options. It features 100 percent Japanese 105°C capacitors, a fluid dynamic bearing 135 mm fan with zero-fan mode under light loads, and industrial-grade protections such as OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP, SCP, and UVP. Despite its power, the PSU is housed in a compact 140 mm depth chassis and comes with a 10-year warranty, giving it strong appeal for builders seeking reliability and efficiency.

" ... The MSI MPG A1000GS PCIE5 is a solid power supply that offers great stability and good power efficiency, and it's ideal for users who want to power their PCs for gaming or AI workloads. It's 80Plus Gold certified and supports both ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. What's more it's backed up by a massive 10-year warranty for peace of mind. "

In testing, the A1000GS delivered stable voltages, low ripple, and high efficiency above 90 percent under most load conditions. The fan remained quiet until roughly 50 percent load, after which it ramped up but never became overly loud. FunkyKit noted the quality of the sleeved cables and appreciated the dual-color PCIe connectors that help ensure proper connections. However, the PSU includes a limited number of 8-pin PCIe connectors, which may be a drawback for certain GPU setups not using the 16-pin standard. Overall, it was recommended as a powerful and future-ready PSU, ideal for gamers and creators building with the latest high-end components.
