Instanbu Die and Info(AMD) @ PCPerspective
Published: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 | By: WillWell it looks like AMD is ramping up another great processor. A six core marvel is on the way.
"Today AMD also announced a series of EE Opterons which run at 40 watts ACP (likely around 55 watts using a more traditional TDP method) as well as some new HE models. The other big announcement was the use of the HT 3.0 connections on these new platforms with EE, HE, and the new Istanbul processors. While the Shanghai core supports HT 3.0, it was not utilized in servers until today. This will only be available in new designs which are fully validated for HT 3.0 speeds/features in server applications."
Yes, yes we wonder how well it will overclock too.

Mushkin 12GB Kit DDR3 1333 CL9 (EM3-10666) Memory Review @ Technic3D
Published: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 | By: WillWow, 12GB is a serious RAM amount for usage. Still, some Ninja out there is using that much for some crazy pron editing we are very sure of it. So let's see what Mushkin has to offer here in this review.
"The Mushkin 12GB Kit DDR3 1333 CL9 (EM3-10666) arrived Technic3D. Technic3D will see as good they are with Overclocking against the OCZ Platinum 1600 Memory Kit on Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit and the Gigabyte EX58-Extreme Mainboard. You can see 1.600 MHz (1,5V) with 9-9-9-24 in the following Review."
Well, I have Vista 32-Bit edition and 12GB of RAM. Looks like I'm set to go.

NL: Gaming Review Roundups
Published: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 | By: WillLike always Ninjalane is keeping our eyes peeled for new games to play on the PC. Using our shiny new rigs with beastly video cards to glue our brains to the monitor.
DemiGod (PC) Review @ Gamingheaven
"Demigod is the latest title from Stardock and Gas Powered Games which shipped about a week ago. This is a multiplayer based real time strategy game which unfortunately has some major issues and they have been hard at work for the last 3 or 4 days patching them. "
Death Track - Resurrection (PC) review @ Gamingheaven"If you combine The Fast and the Furious with Unreal Tournament then you end up with the game we have on review today - Death Track Resurrection. A weird hybrid of a combat/racing game that is actually based on a 1989 Activision game called Deathtrack. Russian developer, Sky Fallen handle the coding but unfortunately there are more than a few issues."
Death Track sounds like my kind of game even comes with issues. Yes!

Core i5 details leaked
Published: Monday, April 20, 2009 | By: DennisSome of the details around the new Intel () processor called i5
For comparison, the Core i7 920 which ticks along at 2.66GHz retails for about $290 while the 2.93GHz 940 sells for $560. Given that the prices for the i5 parts quoted here seems rather high.
Like the Core i7 silicon, these pieces pack 8MB of L3 cache, and feature both HyperThreading and TurboBoost technology. The TDP is down from 130W that was standard for the i7 to a cooler 90W.Sadly no triple core version but the lower heat output is nice.

Caustic Graphics @ PCPerspective
Published: Monday, April 20, 2009 | By: WillLooks like we might have some new type of hardware on the way to play with. Caustic Graphics might be the next name in the gaming arena. Then again it might be considered another Agiea, and get put in one of the big boys portfolio.
"James was quick to iterate to me on a few occasions that they initially had no desire to build hardware but as they developed their unique software algorithms it became apparent that there simply was not a processor on the market today, either in GPU or CPU form, that did exactly what they needed. These new algorithms attempt to find order in what we all see as the randomness of ray tracing and they attempt to drastically increase the memory locality for efficiency reasons and the founders decided that required a custom co-processor. But they seem to have played the game intelligently by continuing to utilize hardware where it is most efficient: the Caustic card will handle only the operations that modern components are inefficient at yet they still leverage the power of the GPU for pure shading horsepower."
This new hardware sounds interesting, but where exactly am I gonna plug it into my motherboard? This is with Crossfire X or SLI running at the same time? I need a longer motherboard.

Scythe Kama Angle CPU Cooler @ Pro-Clockers
Published: Monday, April 20, 2009 | By: WillHere is a heatsink review today to go along with our very own Thermalright AXP-140 Heatsink Review. Well not the same cooler but a heatsink none the less.
"The newest cooler from Scythe is the Kama Angle. A very unique cooler that is comprised of 90 degree cut fins and a special silent fan to cool them. According to Scythe the angled fins also takes advantage your case fans for even better cooling performance. Today, we will put the Kama Angle on the test bench just to see how well it does."
Wow, the Scythe Kama Angle just looks funky, but oh well.

Zero Moving Parts PC Totally Silent Computing @ TweakTown
Published: Monday, April 20, 2009 | By: WillThis might be a helpful guide for all of you guys that dread noise from your PC. Also might give an idea or two on how to be frugal on the setup too.
"There's a bit of mad scientist in all of us deep down I think. For years I've always wanted a computer that made absolutely no noise at all and looking at all the "noise reducing" products on the market would begin to make my wallet cry at the cost of silencing my current system.
The time is right, I have convinced myself. The time is now to build a system that can handle the entertainment and the everyday without so much as a whisper emanating from the case. But before we jump right in, we have to identify the right components for the job; it's important to layout the more demanding things we want the system to achieve so that the machine can meet all expectations."How I remember the days of PC's sounding like jet engines.
