  • Unreal Tournament 3 - Titan Pack @ GamingHeaven

Published: Thursday, April 16, 2009 | By: Will

I know many of the Ninjalane crew loves to do some Lan Party Gaming. One of the favorite games to play at these fun events is UT3. Well looks like Epic has released some new stuff for UT3 to make it even better at a Lan Party.

"Unreal Tournament III has been a massively successful game for Midway and Epic with gamers still online playing en masse. Very recently a new expansion was released called The Titan Pack which provides more than a simple addition of mutators or maps. Unreal tournament fans can delight in the new offerings..."

I gotta get this. happy smile

  • Canon PowerShot SX1 IS @ InsideHW

Published: Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | By: Dennis

Whenever Canon gets off their ass and releases this camera in the US I'll be buying one.  (I decided this in January mind you; the short review here is just something that caught my eye)

We could say that Canon PowerShot SX1 IS is perfect camera at this moment. Good lens, a lots of options, sharp and good photos are only some of the characteristics of this model. HD resolution and fast shutter speeds are characteristics that used CMOS has provided to this model but it is at the same time responsible for high price tag of this model.

and dont' forget it takes pictures too! happy smile

Of course if Canon doesn't release this wonderful device in the states I'll have to settle on the TW edition while I'm there for Computex.

Or maybe they will be nice enough to send me one, *hint hint*
"Now featuring product photos sponsored by Canon"  big grin smile

  • ASUS M4N72-E Motherboard Review @ Motherboards

Published: Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | By: Dennis

Here is a blast from the past chipset offering.  Then again once the memory controller moved to the CPU there is no need to refresh chipsets on the AMD platform.

The ASUS M4N72-E motherboard has its strong and weak points. The strong points include SLI support, support for AM3 CPUs out of the box as it's a new design and a solid bundle. Performance was lower than other chipsets but that is due to the fact that the nForce 750a is not the top of the line NVIDIA chipset for the AMD market, the 780a is the chipset for that catagory. The board comes in at an attractive $135 online, with a solid software bundle and great overclocking results, and was able to achieve a 30% overclock with the standard AMD reference cooler. The M4N72-E is a good motherboard for its price range and feature package.

One of the last few SLI ready chipsets,  a dying bread that we hope will see new life.

Cooler Master released another LAN ready case to the storm line called the Scout.  Sadly we didn't get one on launch day but I think you can guess who did.

Limited run product launches are a little annoying but this really is a good case.

  • In Win Gundam @ PureOverclock

Published: Monday, April 13, 2009 | By: Will

This is for the Anime guys that lurk around here at Ninjalane. A case inspired by the Anime Gundam show.

"For those of us out there who watch anime know, many of the best animes out there deal with the future of combat: the mobile suit, the mecha, the Gundam. Someone over at In Win Development Inc. must have also been a fan of the Mobile Suit Gundam series, for today we bring you their new chassis, the AL-13 series Gundam GD. Sure, you get an enclosure that is unique, but will it perform as well as well as its animated counterparts? That is what we are here to find out. Let's take a look under the hood, and see if the Gundam GD has what it takes to live up to its namesake."

It is a pretty cool concept.

Here is a few newer PC games being reviewed for our viewing pleasure.

Panzers Cold War - PC Review @ Gamepyre

"ATARI has done a beautiful job with this game from every aspect. The graphics are great, the sound is great and even the gameplay is great (if you can manage fast paced RTSs). This game is rated T (Teen) for use of tabacco and violence although I'm actually shocked. With all the fire and explosions and people being blown up I find it hard to believe that the ESRB did not slap a M (mature) rating for this title. I guess it was the lack of blood (although when someone gets firebombed there usually is not much blood to spill anyhow."

    Wheelman (PC) Review @ GamingHeaven

"It seems to be a prime time for Vin Diesel with several computer games including Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena released recently. Today we are taking a look at Wheelman, a game much closer to what you would expect from the musclebound anti hero if you went to the cinema to see his latest film. It is all about fast cars, lovely looking women and plenty of weaponry. The mainstream press have slated this recently, but I find it quite enjoyable!"
  • Abit quits brand business

Published: Friday, April 10, 2009 | By: Dennis

Seems that it's official, Abit is outie.  Funny thing there was no announcement like this when Soltek went under; I guess the Abit ego is still strong.

Second-tier motherboard maker Abit has reportedly quit the consumer electronics branding business covering product lines such as digital photo frames putting itself completely out of the channel market, according to sources in the channel.

Abit quit the motherboard brand business at the end of last year and is currently focusing on motherboard ODM/OEM business.

So I wonder what they will be doing now?

Cooler Master is well-known for their creation of high-quality products, but things are taken to the next level with their new CM Storm brand. Their first product here is the mid-tower Sniper, and what a chassis this is! In addition to offering features specific to LAN gamers, the overall design, cooling ability and aesthetics make it well worth checking out.
