  • Foxconn launched “Flaming Blade” - “Flaming Blade GTI”

Published: Wednesday, March 11, 2009 | By: Dennis

Found this on the interweb so it has to be true right??  Based on my current grapevine information network the posting is correct and should be available soon.

The global economic downturn nowadays affects maybe people’s consumption habit but doesn’t restrain enthusiasts’ passion on lusting computing performance. This is the core motive to inspire QF team to develop Flaming Blade (i.e. FB) and Flaming Blade GTI (i.e. FB GTI) another two models listed in enthusiast criteria but with competitive price.

We can't wait to get our hands on this slick new board version and see just what they changed and what has remained unchanged.

    So stay tuned!

  • CrossFire vs. SLI @ InsideHW

Published: Monday, March 9, 2009 | By: Will

SLI or Crossfire? This question never seems to get a good answer. Yet, we love to keep asking it, and checking it out.

"On every presentation of new GPU generation that we attended in past few years, systems with more than one graphics card were presented as ultimate performance setup. Problem with those configurations was their price in a real world environment. Even now there are more users that have only one graphics card in their rig but the times has changed and now even low-budget users can have Crossfire of SLI system thanks to price drops. First of all, motherboards that support Crossfire or SLI are not too expensive anymore as they were a year ago. Secondly, graphics cards have become also cheaper so users now face a dilemma: if they already have a graphics card from mid or high-range class with motherboard that supports CrossFire/SLI, is it better to sell that one and buy new one, or to buy same graphics card and make CrossFire/SLI system?..."

I'll take one of each.big grin smile

Well this roundup once again has my favorite game FEAR 2. Yet, I'll leave it alone to hit on the Dawn of War II RTS game. This looks to be a real awesome looking RTS. What other RTS do you get to see the chracters ripping each other apart. I cannot wait to give this title a try.

Dawn of War II @ Technic3D

"Dawn of War II PC Game from THQ arrived Technic3D. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II transports players into Games Workshop's vast Warhammer 40,000 universe, where an intergalactic war between ancient races has raged on for countless millennia. Better than the first version? See you in the following Review."

    Fear 2 - PC Review @ Gamepyre

"I've seen way more violent games, games with stronger language and more mature themes get less of a rating but add one evil child in the mix and all changes. As a shooter alone, this game is week. As a shooter based around a storyline, this game is great. The choice is yours. I just want to be perfectly clear that regardless of a headshot or a bullet in the toe, in F.E.A.R. 2 - Project Origin bullet location does not matter. All that matters is the amount of times that a bullet hits the target. I really miss the days of Soldier of Fortune; now that was a real brain-buster."

Oh, did I menton FEAR 2 allows you to rip guys apart with grenades. FEAR 2 FTW!big grin smile

  • New Navigation Features Added

Published: Sunday, March 8, 2009 | By: Dennis

In an attempt to make surfin Ninjalane a little easier I've changed a few things.  With any luck the changes will appear seamless to you (and anyone else visiting the site) but some things are important to note.

There is a new table of contents added to the Reviews / Projects / Articles section to give you easier access to the different subcategories for our articles.

The URLs are now "hackable" (and no that's not an open invite to try and break stuff).  The term hackable means you can navigate up and down the navigation tree and see the different parent/child relationships.

For instance reviews is now located at http://www.ninjalane.com/reviews if you want to view motherboard reviews the url will be http://www.ninjalane.com/reviews/motherboards and so on.

If you watch the URL as you click around the site the new format will become clear.

    Happy surfing big grin smile

  • A Trip Down Memory Lane @ The Tech Report

Published: Thursday, March 5, 2009 | By: Dennis

I got a chance to meet the Tech Report guys at CES this year.  I can't say I made a lasting impression but it was more like a "thanks" for being cool.

Speaking of cool stuff check out their latest blog posting,  "A trip down memory lane."

Moving often involves getting rid of old and useless computer hardware. However, some components are simply too special or unique to toss out--even if they have no practical use. In his latest blog post, TR editor Geoff Gasior has listed some old (and not-so-old) hardware that's made it into the movers' truck: an original 3dfx Voodoo 2, a GeForce FX 5800 with the matching Dustbuster cooler, a SpaceOrb 360 game controller designed for late-1990s 3D games, and more.

In passing I have often mentioned "the closet" which is where i keep all of the old review hardware I want to keep for future reference.  As of late the storage vessel has spilled over into some of the other spare rooms in the house and threatens to create a black hole of goodness.

I've saved some really good stuff over the years like the first motherboard I ever reviewed.  Several unique Soltek motherboards (golden flame, violet eyes etc..) some of the first DFI LanParty boards in existence including the famed NF2 board from Oskar.

Here is a few games for your PC to chew on. Check out our Palit GTS 250 review for the info on how it handles FEAR 2 in this roundup below.

FEAR 2: Project Origin @ TheTechLounge

"Fear 2 is a game for people who aren't alright with a safe world. Even a despotic world. Those places can be made safe with skill and determination, and a gigantic supply of ammunition. There's a grim glee in being scared, truly frightened, by something that isn't even real. Fear 2 is a place where the most dangerous place isn't tangible, but can and wants to kill you, because you're human and it isn't. Fear is an emotion worth stimulating."

Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box - PC Review @ Gamepyre

Burnout Paradise has certainly introduced some new features to the racing community but if you're thinking that just because this game won best racing game of 2008 it does not meant that the game is perfect by a long shot.

The game's graphics are not the sharpest graphics found in a racing game. The game's sound, while good is definitely not great. Even the controls and the gameplay could use a bit of improvement. What makes this game great is the fun factor and as long as players have fun playing a game, that game can stay fresh forever. Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box will certainly remain fresh until EA will release the next Burnout game, but until that that happens you might as well try to own the streets of Paradise City. Multiplayer is the best aspect to this game; crashing into other real players is a lot of fun but if multiplayer is not your thing, unless you really like arcade style racing games, well, you know the rest....

    Enjoy!big grin smile

  • How to Install Vista on the ASUS P6T Deluxe with SAS RAID @ Legit Reviews

Published: Monday, March 2, 2009 | By: Will

At first glance, I had a small laugh at this articles name. Then I re-read it and it dawned on me that this is some good info for people. So for guys and gals that want to build a nice workstation without completely breaking the bank this is some good stuff here.

"In our review of the ASUS P6T Deluxe we noted that the motherboard was one of very few desktop boards to feature an on-board SAS controller. With this controller from Marvell, the board can just as easily function as an incredibly powerful and reliable workstation, or a monster gaming rig with ultra fast hard drives. Since there are a few different speed grades when it comes to SAS hard drives we aren't going to focus much on the speed of the drives, but simply how to get Windows Vista installed on a pair of drives in RAID 0 (stripe set)..."
