Holiday PC Gaming Season
Published: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 | By: WillKeeping the PC gamer informed about new games for this season is just part of the Ninja life for us. Today I'm just going to spotlight one game and that is the COD World at War. Have not played it, but hoping to see it soon to give a better idea about this great looking title.
"Built on the CoD4 engine, Treyarch has had the opportunity to focus on the gameplay. CoD 4 was a journey into the modern world. For WaW, Treyarch went back to World War II but instead of focusing on the European Theater, the dev team expanded that to play the game - through scenarios - on two fronts. Players will be immersed in the Pacific Theater in the war against the Japanese Imperial Army, and will be part of the Russian push toward Berlin."

Adobe Photoshop CS4 @ InsideHW
Published: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 | By: WillI know many of us geeks out there love to play with photos and what not with Photoshop everyday. For the most part a new release of Photoshop is not very hardware news worthy, but this time around CS4 is using some sweet new technology. This is the first time that Adobe is using a video card to do the work load for Photoshop.
"New edition of one of the best, if not the best, application for processing raster graphics attended for photographers but also for graphic and web designers, is finally tested on InsideHW. One of most important technical novelties is that Photoshop CS4 will be delivered only as 64-bit version. Adobe made this decision after preliminary tests that showed that performances of 64-bit applications are better for 8% to 12% comparing to 32-bit version. True power and advantages of 64-bit version are hidden in fact that it can use large amounts of memory..."
This is good stuff here. Very Cool!

Ubuntu vs. OpenSolaris vs. FreeBSD Benchmarks @ Phoronix
Published: Monday, November 24, 2008 | By: WillThis is for all of you guys that like to tinker with something out of the normal. The guys at Phoronix are comparing a couple different versions of Linux to give the alternative OS guys something to look at.
"Over the past few weeks we have been providing several in-depth articles looking at the performance of Ubuntu Linux. We had begun by providing Ubuntu 7.04 to 8.10 benchmarks and had found the performance of this popular Linux distribution to become slower with time and that article was followed up with Mac OS X 10.5 vs. Ubuntu 8.10 benchmarks and other articles looking at the state of Ubuntu's performance. In this article, we are now comparing the 64-bit performance of Ubuntu 8.10 against the latest test releases of OpenSolaris 2008.11 and FreeBSD 7.1."

Holiday PC Gaming Season
Published: Monday, November 24, 2008 | By: WillThe shopping season is here and so is many great games for the PC this year. Let's take a look at a couple more games to interest your buying power. The first game is a classic that never seems to grow old, and neither does the hotties that play as here either. It is Tomb Raider Underground. With the graphics getting better it just makes Lara get hotter.
Next is the game that I think is just down right awesome, and had to put it up one more time for you guys to check out. Fallout 3.
Tomb Raider Underworld Review @ GamngHeaven
"Lara Croft is undoubtedly one of the most well known game icons across the globe and Eidos have released the latest installment Underworld to capitalise on the success of Legend ... which was a great title. The question we aim to answer today, is this another archaeologist journey worth paying for?"
Fallout 3 PC Review @ TestFreaks
"Fallout3 is set in the far future after the world has basically ended due to the usual things, greed, power, and nuclear war, eventually I'm sure it will end this way, so it might be a peek into our own futures... Seriously though Fallout3 is a magnificent game in visuals, actual gameplay and storyline, it's a bloody, gory romp through the post-apocalyptic wastelands that will keep you coming back for more."
Oh yeah, let the gaming begin.

Welcome to the *new* Ninjalane
Published: Sunday, November 23, 2008 | By: DennisWell not really new but the server migration went without a hitch. There was a little downtime on saturday due to a server mis-configuration but I won't count that since the DNS changes were still being populated around the world.
The new hardware should keep this site up and running for at least another year but if we keep growing at a steady pace who knows what will happen.
Enjoy!

NinjaLane Exclusive pics from Foxconn's X58 BloodRage
Published: Friday, November 21, 2008 | By: WillNinjalane just got ahold of some great pictures of the new X58 Chipset board from Foxconn. The BLOODRAGE pics are here and enjoy them for they are just wicked cool.
"FOXCONN announce the latest and most powerful motherboard to date in the Quantum Force range; BLOODRAGE delivers outrageous computing power for enthusiasts and hardcore gamers. Features include powerful, flexible graphics support for ATI CrossFireXTM or NVIDIA 3-way SLITM, Quantum Power - the most complete and robust power system yet, optimized sound for gaming with Creative X-Fi technologies, and SAS - the fastest desktop storage solution available today.
Based on the Intel® X58 chipset, it supports the new Intel® CoreTM i7 and i7 Extreme processor families and 3 channel DDR3 memory.
With support for Intel® socket 1366 CoreTM i7 processors, BLOODRAGE unleashes the latest 8-threaded CPU technology for outstanding multi-threaded application performance. Thanks to Intel® Turbo Boost Technology single-threaded applications can enjoy boosted performance as the processor automatically increases frequency when at least 1 core is not being used.
Thanks to the integrated memory controller on the processor, lower latency and higher bandwidth is supported right through to the processor cores, removing the FSB bottleneck which can limit memory performance. BLOODRAGE features support for the latest 3 channel DDR3 memory up to 1800(oc)MHz, with a total of 12GB installed support across 3 DIMM sockets."Well it looks like I gotta get the RPG out and take down Santa this year. I've been naughty.
So, I gotta get him to my house some way to get all of these cool new toys.
