  • AOpen to introduce Pentium M motherboard using desktop 915G chipset

Published: Tuesday, May 17, 2005 | By: Dennis

"AOpen is positioning the 915Mm-HFS in the market as a motherboard for media servers, while the i915GA-HFS will target users looking to build quiet but powerful multimedia systems that are energy-efficient, the sources stated."

  • ECS PF88 Extreme Hybrid Mainboard Review @ Hexus

Published: Monday, May 16, 2005 | By: Dennis

It isn't every day you see a motherboard company provide support for not 1 but 2 completely different processors on the same mobo. Hexus has the scoop on 1 such board from ECS.
"Take a few seconds to ponder the ECS PF88 Extreme's layout. For all intents and purposes, barring the extra-long connector (hint, hint) running through the middle of the board, it's a regular LGA775-supporting board. In fact, with 2 x16 PCI-Express slots you'd be forgiven for thinking it's ECS' take on Intel-based SLI, but, as you may have guessed, the second, orange-coloured PCI-Express x16 slot is reserved for something else. Can you figure it out?"

  • Mitron Aluminum Reservoir Review @ PC Modding Malaysia

Published: Monday, May 16, 2005 | By: Dennis

I kind of like this res, it has cooling fins and everything. Too bad the fins will prolly do more to heat up the water than cool it down.
"Most overclockers are always trying to get better CPU/GPU/NB water blocks, radiator, pump for their water cooling setup but not many of them will really spend much on a reservoir because basically it doesn’t play an important role for the water cooling system."

With Silverstone you can expect something different, namely a sense of style that is understated and classy. The fans provided for this review have this aesthetic and can even meet the mundane requirements of moving air in and out of a computer system.

  • DFI NF3 Ultra-D (First ever images) @ Hardware Asylum

Here is something you don't see everyday, someone claiming that they have a first ever pic of a product that isn't actually a first ever pic. (ya I've done that before too)
"Hardware Asylum has managed to get images of DFI's upcoming Lanparty UT NF3 Ultra-D. This is the first ever released image of this motherboard."
We actually have photos of this board from our trip to Computex 2004, just click and see.

  • Abit Fatal1ty AN8 @ t-break

Published: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 | By: Dennis

I look at this motherboard and say to myself, wow that is pretty darn cool, though when I look closer at it you can see many similaraties between the Abit AN8 and the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra that we reviewed not to long ago. If it wasn't for the LEDs on the back of the board and the red PCB I'd be all "thats not so special"
"One of the other things that stands out with this board is that Abit has placed the nForce4 chip a bit higher than most other manufactures and this works out great. On other boards, youll find the nForce4 chip next to the PCI slots however, as you can see from the picture below, Abit places it above the PCI slots and closer to the CPU on the AN8."

  • SilverStone Eudemon Multifunction Panel @ LAN Addict

Published: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 | By: Dennis

We like Silverstone here, and you should too, and the reasons... there are no reasons, who needs reasons when you got passive ventilation grills. (haxX0r3d from Trainspotting)
"As you can see, there are no large, bulbous knobs sticking way out from the Eudemon. This is good news for those of you that have bay-hiding doors on your cases! The two grills you see are for passive ventilation, although I don't see why someone couldn't put small fans or speakers behind those grills, were they inclined in that direction."

  • SunBeamTech Light Bus @ TechTastic

Published: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 | By: Dennis

Light bus, Fan bus they are just a central location to house your LEDs and switches, however some companies tend to do more than just allow you to flip the switch.
"On the back of the unit we can see that each channel uses a three pin Molex connector to control the lighting. Since some lighting equipment uses four pin Molex connectors Sunbeamtech has included a four adapter wires to solve this problem."
I still think you are better off bulding your own, though this one does do some pretty cool stuff. happy smile
