Soltek Qbic EQ3901MAY-300P Review @ TR News
Published: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 | By: Dennis"IT SEEMS LIKE everyone and their mother is trying to get into the small form factor business these days. Motherboard makers have been quick whip up barebones cubes, but few have deviated from Shuttle's popular XPC mold. Not Soltek. Its latest "Mania" Qbic small form factor systems not only offer more expansion capacity than Shuttle's venerable G-series chassis, they also come wrapped in a wild aesthetic that easily sets them apart from the rest of the field.
These ain't no copycat cubes. "
We like the Mania cubes they are the bomb when it comes to SFF. -

- 512MB Corsair Flash Voyager @ BigBruin

I can just see it now. "Pimp my rig with [Insert swave company name here]" -
NL: Review BLock - nVidia nForce Pro Chipset
Published: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 | By: DennisWhen it comes to chipsets you either offer a server/high-end workstation model or you don't. In the case of nVidia they never offered a single chipset for a workstation or server class system so to help broaden the product line they have introduced the nForce Professional.
- nForce Professional 2200/2050 Chipset Launch @ Legit Reviews
- nForce Professional Technology Overview @ Viper Lair
- Introducing NVIDIA nForce Professional @ OCModShop
I'm of the opinion that it is slightly less complicated to build a chipset for the Athlon64 since the complexity of the onboard memory controller has been moved to the processor die. -
Intel to launch new dual-core desktop CPU
Published: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 | By: Dennis"Intel plans to launch its next-generation dual-core desktop processor, codenamed Presler, in the first quarter of 2006, which is about the same time the chip giant will unveil its dual-core notebook CPU, Yonah, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers.
The Presler CPU will be built using a 65nm process, compared to the 90nm process being used in the manufacture of the dual-core Smithfield processor, the sources said, adding that the new process is expected to help reduce the power consumption of the CPU." -

Published: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 | By: DennisAll work and no play makes my pr0n collection real small,

Actually some of you may have noticed that I haven't posted news in a couple/few days. Don't worry I'm not going under or nothing but I have been busy doing some serious work on my new house instead of working on getting news posted etc...
Many of you have sent in review links and I will try to get those posted as soon as I can though please don't feel bad if something you sent in doesn't get any net time. -
Gainward PowerPack!Ultra/1960 PCX XP GS GLH Review @ mvktech
Published: Friday, January 21, 2005 | By: DennisLong name, amazing results.
Now here is the video card I would have loved to review had my attempts to w00 Gainward had worked back in June 04.
"The Ultra/1960 PCX XP "Golden Sample" GLH is smaller in size than the mack daddy cousin the GeForce 6800 Ultra PCX. The 3/4 size PCB will adapt well in small and mid tower cases or space limited configurations. This is a single slot design and requires no external power as mentioned before. The shorter card and the absence of external power is not to be confused with low performance, this card will simply suck the monitor out of a NV35 5900 Ultra in terms of performance."
Never phj34r, Gainward will be in the hizzy sometime before cookie dough ice cream goes out of style. -

Corsair TwinX2 DDR2 Revisited @ OCTools
Published: Thursday, January 20, 2005 | By: DennisJust keep in mind that your overclocking experiences and limitations can differ from what you read on the web.
"When we first reviewed the Corsair TWIN2X1024-5400C4PRO DDR2 back in August 2004, we were impressed by its stability, performance and the headroom it provided for overclockers and enthusiasts. However, we weren’t able to determine its maximum operating speed via overclocking due to hardware limitations we have at the time." -
Asus A8N-SLI Review @ PC INpact
Published: Thursday, January 20, 2005 | By: DennisThe entire review is in French but there are a few pretty pictures to check out.
"Pour ce qui est du refroidissement de la seule et unique puce regroupant à la fois le northbridge et le southbridge du nForce 4 SLI, Asus a choisi d’équiper sa carte mère d’un système actif. En utilisation "normale", un radiateur passif aurait toutefois très certainement suffit, d’autant plus que celui installé est assez bruyant, mais Asus a préféré jouer la carte de la sécurité et assurer un refroidissement conséquent à son jeu de circuits."
Yep I have no idea what that says. -
Comparing SLI Setups @ t-break
Published: Thursday, January 20, 2005 | By: DennisThis might be the best part of this whole review.
"With SLI boards hitting retail shelves, we’re sure that quite a few people are interested in comparing SLI setups. We thought that it would be a good idea to compare the lower-end and higher-end SLI setups. Since SLI is only officially available on an nForce4 platform, we didn’t have much choice with a lower-end system- especially since all nF4 boards are socket 939."
But then again there are a few good graphs to choose from.
