Thx for the Votes
Published: Monday, November 1, 2004 | By: DennisI would like to thank the 4 people that voted for me in the Abit Media Fragfest. The event went off without a hitch but I got eliminated in the first round.
(had a very hard timing finding anyone (3 on 3 so as you can guess 2 people would frag each other while the 3rd is running around going where the hell is everyone.)
Anyhow the Abit peeps claim that this could become a regular thing so there could be a rematch in the near future. -
Raidmax Samurai @ Big Bruin
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: Dennis"Raidmax bills the paint finish on the case as “Show Car Quality”... All I can say is that if this was a custom car in a car show it would win on the quality of the paint alone. It is simply stunning."
Fortunately this is the real world and not a custom car show. -
Abit AA8 Duramax 925X Review @ TweakNews
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: Dennis"What Matrix RAID allows you to do is install a RAID 1 (Mirror) array and a RAID 0 (stripe) array on two hard drives. Some people might ask "Why do I want to do that?" Well, for one, you will have the best of both worlds."
DFI had similar technology included with early LanParty motherboards, made possible by an advanced Silicon Image controller. -
DFI LANParty 925X-T2 and UT 915P-T12 @ The TechReport
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: Dennis"Since it just wouldn't be showing off without the latest hardware, DFI has updated its LANParty family over time. The latest additions to the line are the LANParty 925X-T2 and UT 915P-T12. Based on Intel's 900-series chipsets and LGA775 socket, these new LANPartys take aesthetics and extras to a whole new level."
The boards are great, you can see our review of the 915P for comparison purposes, though I will admit they took a better UV photo.
If you like things running at 4Ghz, check out this thread in the Ninjalane Message Forum. There you can see our very own LanPartyUT 915P using an Intel 530 cranked up to 268Mhz FSB. -
MSI launches nForce 4-based K8N
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: Dennis"Micro-Star International (MSI) has launched two Nvidia nForce4-based motherboards, the K8N Diamond and K8N Neo 4 Platinum, for the Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Athlon 64 processor platform, according to a company press release.
The K8N Diamond features the Nvidia nForce4 SLI MCP (media and communication processor), and the graphics interface can be set to a single PCI Express x16 or dual PCI Express x8. According to MSI, the K8N Diamond can accelerate 3D performance by over 180% when using two SLI-ready graphics cards." -
XBox Owner Sues Microsoft
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: DennisThey have no idea how many people this affects, I suppose they could look at the RMA record but that doesn't include the people like me that just went out and bought another Xbox to replace the broken one.
""Reuters is reporting that Sean Burke has filed suit against Microsoft because his XBox system stopped reading discs (games or otherwise) after less than one year of use." -
asetek Water Cooling Stuff @ OcPrices
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: Dennis"The Socket T waterblock basically comprises of the same Antarctica copper base, but just with a different acrylic lid. Unlike the universal waterblock, this lid only supports Socket T. Although it is essentially the same waterblock we reviewed here, it will be interesting to see its compatibility (clearance…etc) with the new LGA775 motherboards"
I'm thinking that the Antarctica block will have a few clearance issues on certain 775 motherboards but that is to be expected. -
Den Maze4 GPU Waterblock @ OCModShop
Published: Friday, October 29, 2004 | By: Dennis"Since this block has its name because it's made on the design of the Maze4 CPU, I took the liberty to check that out for myself and opened the GPU block, and guess what just like the name the inside is exactly the same design, so CPU cooling power for you VGA card."
The internal design of the block isn't really a "maze" but rather a series of semi circle channels that span the entire length of the block. -
CoolForce 2 VGA Cooler @ HardwareHounds
Published: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 | By: DennisLooking for a copper orb to put on your video card??
"As you can see, this definitely moves more air than a stock GPU cooler and it does it quite quietly."
Not to many photos in this review but you do get an annoyingly swank crosshair cursor thingie. -
SilverStone Timjin 5 Review @ OCIA
Published: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 | By: DennisSilverstone makes some pretty sweet cases and are just ripe for modding and general case usage. I especially like the dual 120mm fan mounting areas.
"The sides come off the traditional old way, with the inclusion of this slide lock for the left one. I dunno, with such a finely crafted case, seems like maybe the engineers could have come up with a better method of fastening the side to the case."
Quick access is nice but it need to be elegant too, IMO.
