  • CES 2004 Coverage

Published: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 | By: Dennis

Sadly Ninjalane wasn’t on the ball to attend CES this year but other sites went and here is their story.

    - TechBits CES Coverage
    - NextGen Electronics CES Coverage Day 4

I think many sites that went didn't bother to do any write-ups. sad smile

  • Small percentage of spam complies with new law

Published: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 | By: Dennis

"The new law hasn't had an effect on the amount of spam being sent, either. "There's been no reduction in the volume of spam," said Scott Chasin, MX Logic's chief technology officer. "In fact, the exact opposite -- our spam rates are actually going up.""
The email that Ninjalane sends out is not intended to be spam and is always sent from a valid email address. The list I have compiled is not opt in but is based on personally harvested addresses published on the respective websites.

To help protect our inboxes the spam filtering software has been enabled on the email server. The filter works on a point scale and if your message scores 6 points or more it will be bounced back to the sender claiming that it is spam. Strange thing is some of the hardware news that is sent is actually caught by this filter and sadly I still get spam.

If your message does get bounced, be sure that the message was sent to the proper address and try reworking the message to remove the "spamish" content.

Thank you for your support. happy smile

  • Mirror Finish, Laser Cut Fan Grills @ Big Bruin

Published: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 | By: Dennis

"My first impression of these grills was that they were well made and nicely finished, not cheap, bendable things with chrome flaking off."
The laser cut grills are pretty dang sweet though 90% of them restrict airflow and actually make your system noisier. I have first hand experience with this being one of the early adopters of the laser cut style. Check it out! big grin smile

    Hello Everyone,

I'd like to thank the couple of sites that recently listed our Epox EP-8RDA+ Motherboard Review in their news recently, This is a nice gesture but rather unexpected since the review was posted back in March 2003.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again later this week I might have a surprise fer ya. wink smile

"As it is with many computer users, the thought of using water (of all things) inside your computer case, with your precious electronics components possibly in harms way, has keep me away from such a pairing."
Even though watercooling isn't really needed for everyday cooling there is just something really cool about the entire process. Be sure to check out the crazy dual radiator setup in the test system, this guy has hoses everywhere. tongue smile

  • Sweet Cube Case Mod

Published: Monday, January 12, 2004 | By: Dennis

Check out this sweet case building job.
"G69T, un sogno "ricavato dal pieno""
I'm not sure if the owner fabricated the case from scratch or paid someone to build from prints but the outcome is super sweet.

I think the article is in Italian so bring your translator you might need it. big grin smile

  • Chaintech targets 39 percent sales growth

Published: Monday, January 12, 2004 | By: Dennis

    I think they'll get it.
"Taiwan-based motherboard and graphics card maker Chaintech Computer aims to generate as much as NT$6 billion in revenues this year, up 39% from NT$4.309 billion last year, according to company chairman and president Simon Ho.

Ho said at the company’s year-end dinner that Chaintech swung to a profit in the fourth quarter of 2003, compared to a net loss of NT$71.4 million in the first three quarters, and the company is confident of turning a profit this year."

  • The Day The Cable Went Down

Published: Sunday, January 11, 2004 | By: Dennis

The one bad thing about having a cable modem is that if the ISP screws the p00ch you and everyone else on your node is left without Internet service and no alternative since they rarely offer a dial-up. Well that very thing happened to me this weekend and the outage wasn't just limited to my node but affected the entire city. shock smile

Sadly these things happen but when the outage goes for more than an hour (more like 24+ in this instance) I begin to have withdrawals. On a happy note the local bar and movie house helped us pass the time and now everyone is happy. big grin smile

  • Join the Ninjalane WAN Party!!

Published: Friday, January 9, 2004 | By: Dennis

The Ninjalane WAN Party is back, for this weekend we will be playing UT2003 Bombing Run. This is a new gametype for me but should be a nice change from the regular Deathmatch that is normally running.

Since this game server is reserved for Ninjalane members it will be password protected with the password located in the gamers corner of the NinjaForum. Simply sign in to get the password and play.

I'm planning to jump on the server around 9:00pm MST and will play for as long as there are players.

Server starts at 6:00pm MST Friday and will remain running until 12:00pm MST Sunday. With that let the games begin. big grin smile
