  • SiS launches 800MHz dual channel chipset – the SiS655TX

Published: Friday, October 17, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) today announced the release of the SiS655TX for the popular 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) standard, representing SiS’s highest-level dual-channel product supporting the Intel Pentium 4 platform.

The SiS655TX employs a flexible dual-channel system architecture that supports all types and capacities of memory modules, while retaining full dual-channel functions at a memory bandwidth up to 6.4GB/s. With the SiS655TX, users have free selection of memory modules to upgrade without limitations in module specifications, a great benefit for both mainstream and power users seeking upgrade and performance enhancements on P4 platforms."

  • Major players Choose Chips From XGI

Published: Friday, October 17, 2003 | By: Dennis

"These XGI-powered cards are expected to hit store shelves in late November at the earliest, sources added.

"We are indeed working with CP Technology and Gigabyte," said Patrick Chang, corporate PR manager at XGI. "But we have no knowledge of deals with Asustek and MSI."

Dual GPU goodness. big grin smile

  • LAN Party Guides: Economics 101 @ Lan Addict

Published: Friday, October 17, 2003 | By: Dennis

Lan parties can be expensive espically if you have a ton of people coming.
"One final method for procuring a location for cheap, which I use, and I noticed only a few other LANs using is holding your LAN party as a charity event. It is not hard to find a decent location for cheap or free when they hear of your plans. Again, this is much easier to do if you know someone at the location you plan on using. If you use this method, I think you will find that the other costs will be easier to manage as well."

  • Innovatek Tank-o-Matic Plugon Review @ Hard-h2o

Published: Friday, October 17, 2003 | By: Dennis

Looking for a bigger res for your Innovatek cooling system??
"Water capacity has nothing to do with cooling performance. Even using a big reservoir such as 10l without radiator, all the water will end warmed up because heat exchange in the reservoir is minimum. If we use a radiator, reservoir temperature will be the one at radiator exit, not the room temperature."

  • NL: Review Block - Memory 3-Way

Published: Friday, October 17, 2003 | By: Dennis

Memory is one of the key components when it comes to overclocking stability so making sure you choose the right module is pretty important. We like Corsair memory here in the Ninjalane Labs but other types and styles are available to choose from.

  • XFX Mach4 NF2S-AED Review @ OCModShop

Published: Thursday, October 16, 2003 | By: Dennis

XFX has been working hard to break into the enthusiast gaming market in three major areas, Gaming controllers, Video cards, and motherboards. Their line of motherboards is fairly limited though does encompass many of the mainstream chipsets.
"This board comes in an XFX box with a pretty tough looking 3D pitbull on the front. I have to say, XFX have the most professional looking boxes, logos, and manuals that I have seen lately. As you can see, the box is really cool looking, with quite a bit of information on the board, including its features and a simple installation guide with pictures."

  • Triplex Mohoch FX 5900 LE Review @ OCTools

Published: Thursday, October 16, 2003 | By: Dennis

I had the opportunity to handle a similar card at Computex, Limited Edition and everything. The one thing I didn't tell you was how all of the nVidia products in the Triplex booth were tucked away in the back of the booth. sad smile
"Well, today here at OCTools, we are lucky enough to be reviewing a FX 5900 card that Triplex produced exclusively as Limited Editions. So exclusive that what we've got here is 1 of only 250 ever produced in the series. Introducing, our exclusive review of Triplex's FX 5900 offering, the Mohoch FX 5900 Limited Edition."
The card is indeed a Limited Edition, but not many people really know how limited it really was. tongue smile

  • Innovatek Water Cooling Kit Review @ ViperLair

Published: Thursday, October 16, 2003 | By: Dennis

I actually have one of these kits sitting on the floor next to me. I cannot tell you why the kit is still in the box but if looks can tell you anything, the kit is a quality piece of work.
"I looked around, and asked many questions to find out what was needed, I settled on a "kit" solution. I say "kit" because I was able to modify the kit on the fly during ordering. This allowed me to upgrade / downgrade the radiator, pump or water block, a nice feature. I chose the kit because of my lack of experience in this realm; by lack of experience I mean I have none."

  • MSI 865PE Neo2 Review @ Legit Reviews

Published: Thursday, October 16, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Here is the Frequency/Voltage menu. You may notice the Dynamic OverClocking, and Performance Mode Options and not recognize them... well, neither do we. When you look at the MSI manual for this motherboard, those options are not even mentioned. We assume them to be a type of hardware excelerator mode. For testing, we left these options at Disabled and Slow, respectively."
My guess is that the menu options are the MSI version of PAT support for the Springdale chipset, Even though they left the settings "Disabled and Slow" the benchmark scores reflect that the BIOS patch is indeed working.
