"Curious Leah noticed a lump after winning the monster, catchphrase "You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry," at a seaside fair.

And when she peeled off the green comic-book character’s ripped purple shorts, she found the two-inch manhood beneath them."

Sorry for straying from the hardcore tech stuff but this is just to good of a story to pass up. happy smile

  • Altec Lansing XA3051 Review @ TweakNews

Published: Wednesday, July 9, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Today, I will be looking at their six speaker system, the XA3051 that is not only targeted at the computer market, but more so to the console gaming consumers owning a PS2 or an XBOX."
These speakers will send you back to the 50's in style but don't use them as microphones. wink smile

  • MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R Review @ HardwareZone

Published: Wednesday, July 9, 2003 | By: Dennis

The HardwareZone seems to really like/favor MSI products since the last time I saw a 5 of 5 from them was with the Canterwood version of the same board.
"Overall, we were very impressed with the MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R. Performance was great, stability was good while features were very well-rounded. Overclockers would probably want to get this board for its overclocking features while beginners getting this board will benefit with its innovative D.O.T. feature."
D.O.T. being what they are calling the optimized memory path to give PAT like performance from the Springdale chipset.

  • Albatron PX865PE Pro II Review @ Extreme Overclocking

Published: Tuesday, July 8, 2003 | By: Dennis

"We would highly recommend this board if you are looking for a nice performer with lots of other functionality. If you are looking for something a little cheaper, Albatron has other boards that use the 865PE chipset but don't quite have all the features of the Pro II."
The Springdale chipset is an amazing little device though it still doesn't excuse having the floppy connector under the last PCI slot. Strangely enough it seems to be a typical layout decision on most Albatron boards.

  • DFI LanParty PRO875 Review @ TweakNews

Published: Monday, July 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

I've spent some time with this board and it hasn't let me down yet. Expect a write-up here pretty soon. big grin smile
"Rounding out the endless accessories are the included orange, rounded, UV reactive floppy and ATA-133/100/66 cables. I thought they looked sweet in normal lighting, but switching off the room lighting and switching on a UV cold cathode lamp and the true aesthetic potential of these cables lights up the room.

Oh wait, did I say "UV reactive"? The cables aren't the only part of this motherboard that glows, but you will have to wait till I bring this motherboards unique characteristic to the limelight or should I say "orangelight" ;)."

It appears that more and more people are taking advantage of the UV reactive nature of the LanParty series motherboards.

  • Introduction to Water Cooling @ NordicHardware

Published: Monday, July 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

This intro is full of cool information including some stuff you should have learned in High School chemistry class. tongue smile
"The general principle of water cooling is that you heat water instead of air. The air is not in need of cooling, since there is a lot of it available - you can just get new air all the time."

  • Intel to Launch Two New Chipsets

Published: Monday, July 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Intel plans to release two new Pentium 4 chipsets supporting single-channel DDR400 and an 800Mhz FSB (front-side bus), Taiwanese motherboard sources said. The 848P, formerly rumored as the 865PL, will be marketed for the value-line end-user market, while the 865GV will target OEM customers.

Intel’s 848P will share the same core and technologies as the existing 865P chipset, and only minor revisions will be needed to lower the 865P’s memory bandwidth from dual-channel to single-channel and increase its FSB speed to 800Mhz."

    Low bandwidth versions. sad smile

  • Press Release from Soltek (SL-KT600-RL)

Published: Monday, July 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

Here is part of the latest press release from Soltek
"Soltek officially launched today its KT600-based mainboard, the SL-KT600-RL.

Adopting the VIA KT600 and VT8237 chipset, the SL-KT600-RL combines the native support for AMD Athlon Processors with 400MHz FSB, and Serial ATA/RAID technology.

The incorporated VIA FastStream64 Memory Controller, AGP 8X technology, and 400MHz Front Side Bus deliver blistering performance to Socket-A platform. The VIA VT8237 SouthBridge adopted by SL-KT600-RL enables multiple drive connectivity options and the support for Serial ATA and Serial RAID (RAID 0 or RAID 1). The SL-KT600-RL also offers eight high-speed USB 2.0 ports and six-channel AC'97 Audio function."

The included photos show this board having the VIA standard Purple Ray PCB. Think it will change before it goes retail?? wink smile

  • Two Digital Daily Reviews

Published: Monday, July 7, 2003 | By: Dennis

I figured that I'd bunch these two reviews together.
Gigabyte 7NNXP (nVidia nForce II 400 Ultra) Motherboard Review
"During the tests, the board showed excellent stability and performance. Also, its overclocking options are very powerful, and at overclocking results the board is second to none of the competitors' products."
ASRock K7S8XE versus Soltek 75FRN2L ("Golden Flame")
"If I faced a dilemma as to which board is better, I would give preference to a system based on the Soltek SL-75FRN2-L motherboard and an Athlon XP1700+ (almost all processors of this type can be configured as 10?200 = 2000MHz under the nominal voltage). Such a combination would have been cheaper than that with ASRock K7S8XE + Barton (200MHz bus) processor under practically the same performance."
Soltek wins again!, good show. big grin smile
