Project Rebirth @ Mikhailtech
Published: Monday, August 18, 2003 | By: Dennis"For years the beige computer case has been the staple of any system, with the movement towards premodded cases only occurring recently. This project article keeps that in mind, as many people have a beige case sitting around gathering dust or holding a system. The goal of Project Rebirth was to take a usual, run of the mill beige ATX mid-tower case and transform it into a custom modded case complete with a high quality finish."
High quality runs of the mill too.Kind of brings back memories and reminds me that I have another one to finish up.

Cooler Master Centurion Case Review @ hardwarezoom
Published: Monday, August 18, 2003 | By: DennisI really like the styling of this case; the front grill kind of says "elegant old school" while the rest of the case appears to be solid enough to stand up to some pretty extreme modding.
"The selling point of this casing is the price and aluminium front bezel. If you do not mind the steel structure inside, Cooler Master Centurion is as beautiful as the more expensive full aluminium casing."
The review is pretty heavy on the photos but still gets the point across. -
Crossover Mission 5 Water Cooling Kit Review @ The Tech Lounge
Published: Monday, August 18, 2003 | By: DennisIf you are looking for a very small and compact water-cooling kit the Crossover Mission 5 might be just the ticket.
" The water block included with this kit is constructed completely out of copper, unlike the aluminum block included with the Iceberg 1. The Inlet and Outlet connectors on the water block are at 90* angles. This isn't necessary and will restrict water flow throughout the loop. The connectors use a quick connect mechanism that will hold the tube in place using tiny metal teeth that grab hold of the tube."
The only problem... It doesn't cool very well. -
9 GeForce FX Video Card Reviews @ NordicHardware
Published: Monday, August 18, 2003 | By: Dennis"Even though we've had a peek at the GeForce FX series before, this time we have a lot of new stuff. As an example we're doing the world premiere review of GeForce FX 5900 non-Ultra 256 MB, aka Gainward's "1300" board. It's a first for NordicHardware with the 5200 Ultra, 5600, retail 5900 Ultra etc. as well. In short there's a lot of new stuff in here. Oh yeah, the flip chip 5600 Ultra is reviewed too of course."
They cover just about the entire line of FX chips in this review including a 256meg Gainward 5900 (non-ultra). This one looks like the 128meg version with twice as much ram. -

Corsair XMS4000 TwinX Review Posted
Published: Sunday, August 17, 2003 | By: DennisAny hardware enthusiast will tell you that by running the memory clock the same speed as the processor front side bus (FSB) will provide you with the best memory performance. Though what do you do if the FSB is running at 1000Mhz?

i848P Sales Lukewarm at Best
Published: Friday, August 15, 2003 | By: Dennis"Sales of motherboards using Intel’s 848P chipset have faced a lukewarm market response under anticipation of pricing pressure from Taiwanese IC designers, according to sources at Taiwanese motherboard makers.
The 848P, supporting the latest 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) Intel CPUs, is Intel’s first chipset targeting the low-priced single-channel DDR market, but Taiwan-based VIA Technologies and Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) will soon start volume shipments of cheaper chipsets with similar features." -
Chenming AL-301KE Review @ Big Bruin
Published: Friday, August 15, 2003 | By: DennisYou may be saying to yourself that this case looks a lot like an Antec case. Well in a way you would be correct. Chenming is the builder of these cases and Antec just buys a bunch, slaps their name on it, and sells to the public. It is good to see they are finally selling direct.
"The overall design and construction of the Chenming AL-301KE are both top notch. All of the seams are very tight, I found no sharp edges, and all of the interconnecting pieces fit together very well. The $84.00 price tag from ISI Technologies doesn’t make it a cheap-o case, but considering all of the features packed into an aluminum chassis, it is very respectable." -
Kingwin KT-436 Case Review @ PimpRig
Published: Friday, August 15, 2003 | By: DennisHere is another one of them "-pre-modded" custom cases.
"I pulled the case out of its protection. My first impression was great. This case is gorgeous! It is better than I had expected. The sturdy aluminum-mg alloy case has a deep black powdercoat that shines in even low light and will be more resistant to scratching than ordinary paint. "
You can't really argue with that.
