Direct Die Cooling Project @ PimpRig
Published: Friday, May 30, 2003 | By: Dennis" The first thing that I knew I would be challenged with was the seal between the CPU and the appliance that was going deliver coolant directly to the die. The whole project was riding on the success of that one seal."
He is speaking about applying the coolant directly to the CPU core, so not only does the seal have to be good but you'd think the coolant would have to be "processor safe". -

Microsoft Settles Browser Suit
Published: Friday, May 30, 2003 | By: DennisIt would seem that the official Microsoft wallet is now open, to the tune of 750 Million.
"THE DEAL settles allegations by AOL that Microsoft used its massive muscle within the software industry to edge Netscape all but out of the Web browser market. Netscape Communications is now a division of AOL. As such, it could put an end to a nine-year battle for browser supremacy. Even with the lawsuit looming, Microsoft had essentially won the war, capturing nearly 95 percent of the market."
Netscape has been my main browser of choice for quite some time. You should check it out; tabbed browsing in version 7.0 is da bomb! -
Playing Games isn't so Mindless??
Published: Thursday, May 29, 2003 | By: DennisI think everyone will agree that this study is a no brainer.
"In four experiments Bavelier and her colleague C. Shawn Green discovered that people who played video games several times a week for six months could monitor complex visual information more easily than non-game players.
But when the researchers gave novices 10 hours of training on the game Medal of Honor, they improved their visual processing skills." -

Mushkin Enhanced PC3200 Review @ Techseekers
Published: Thursday, May 29, 2003 | By: DennisVery low latency, I might have to get some.
"today we are going to look at Mushkin's high performance PC3200 memory, the Mushkin Enhanced Black Hi Perf Level II 512MB PC3200 module.Quite a mouthful I must say. Because we intend to test the memory on a Canterwood board and a nForce2 board, we had no choice but to get 2 sticks for best performance, for Dual Channel operation." -

Epox 4PCA3+ (Canterwood) Review @ Digital-Daily
Published: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 | By: DennisIt would seem that Digital-Daily is the worldwide sister site to 3Dnews.ru which is a good thing considering that I can't read/speak Russan.
"Epox 4PCA3+ is a high-end product offering high performance, powerful expansivity options (2 channels of SerialATA, Gigabit Ethernet, 4-channel RAID, ICH5R). Its price ($166) is comparable to that of some i865PE-based motherboards, so some scarcity of the package bundle is forgivable." -
Corsair TwinX Review @ PCStats
Published: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 | By: DennisMatched memory modules is the way to go if you want to ensure the highest performance from you system though I've noticed that if the BIOS isn't up to snuff the low latency settings of the TwinX memory can cause some serious problems.
" To get the Corsair memory to run at 2-2-2-5 we simply flashed the nForce 2-based motherboard with the latest BIOS version which resolves this issue. Although we tested the Corsair TwinX on an I845PE, we have also run these modules on Springdale and Canterwood system without any problems."
Here is our review of the Corsair TwinX memory for comparison. -
Thermaltake Aquarius II Review @ PC Abusers
Published: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 | By: DennisI have been doing more and more research into this whole watercooling thing (late bloomer I guess) and even though I don't think it will ever be needed for normal computer operation it is the way to go if you want the quietest system around.
"Overall I was pleased with the performance of this kit. Bear in mind, this kit was not designed for serious overclocking. Its designed for the enthusiast who wants water cooling without the hassle of modifying their case for huge radiators and fans. It does what it is suppose to do and that is to effectively cool a cool with minimal noise."
I really like the hose treatment to keep them from crimping.
