  • MobileMaxx Hard Drive Rack Review @ PimpRig

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Despite what it may seem, hard drive racks are by no means a new phenomenon. Anyone familiar with servers knows that they have been used for years. Although an IDE Hard Drive rack does not provide true “Hot-Swappable” capabilities, (being able to swap out a drive without a reboot), there is absolutely no denying the usefulness a hard drive rack can bring to a system"
Or you can set up a network and just copy everything you want to backup to those computers. big grin smile

  • Corsair PC3500 XMS Review @ Tech Lounge

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

" I'm looking out my window right now, and I see two groups of midgets. One group has 10 midgets, the other has 20. The Processor will be the group of 10 midgets, and the RAM will be the group of 20 midgets (meaning the RAM clock speed is faster than the processor's FSB). The group with 10 midgets has the job of throwing rocks to the other group of midgets. The group of 20 midgets has the job of catching the rocks and dumping them into a hole. Even though you have 20 midgets catching and dumping the rocks in the hole, they can only dump the rocks as fast as they catch them."
shock smile I knew something was funny over there.

  • GeForce FX 5900 Ultra Revealed @ HardwareZone

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

The site is a little slow at the moment but I think the review is worth it.
"NVIDIA was able to launch the GeForce FX 5900 GPU without too much delay because they have multiple teams concurrently working on various projects. As such, they are confident that by June, you would be able to land your hands on GeForce FX 5900-based graphics cards in retail."

  • Abit IS7 (Springdale) Motherboard Review Posted

Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: Dennis

It has been quite a while since an Abit review has been featured here at Ninjalane and I'm sure it won't be the last. In this review we are looking at the Abit IS7 i865PE (Springdale) motherboard. This board supports the new 800Mhz FSB and dual channel DDR400.

Though the interesting part was how you could buy this board in the retail channels long before the official Springdale Launch on May 21st.

  • DFI Lan Party PRO875 Review @ 3dXtreme

Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: Dennis

This new LanParty series from DFI is actually pretty slick and looks great under the blacklight. happy smile
"During our review of the DFI Lan Party Intel PRO875 we stumbled across a problem with Performance Acceleration Technolog (PAT). When populating all four DIMM slots the Intel Canterwood chipset disables PAT. After further testing I contacted DFI, DFI was able to confirm this same issue with their headquarters in Tawain. Using only two sticks of ram PAT was enabled. PAT is a feature that gets enabled by the chipset when certain criteria are met."
Thats good to know, I figured it was enabled all the time.

  • Interview with Nathan from TweakNews @ Ohls-Place

Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: Dennis

"Nathan if you don't mind saying can you tell the reader just how old you are?

I am 26, but have the heart of a teenager. Not that I'm immature, but I just take life lightly. "

Taking life serious will land you in a mental institute or into a pit of depression in no time flat. happy smile

  • Intel 845PE roundup @ NordicHardware

Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: Dennis

"it's been a while since the chipset was launched but still the 845PE is going strong. Both Intel and SiS have launched Dual Channel DDR chipset but concerning performance the 845PE is still handling these newcomers very well. The fact that the chipset has had time to mature on the market has caused the price to decrease greatly since the launch and 845PE based motherboards can be bought for about 100 $ these days."
I've always liked checking out roundups but have never wanted to write one. tongue smile

  • Monster-Hardware Interview @ Ohls-Place

Published: Friday, May 23, 2003 | By: Dennis

The Ohls gang has interviewed Jim from Monster-hardware.com.
"If you were a gambler what would you guess the minimum amount of ram a person would need 5 years from now?

    1GB "

I'd say 1GB on Linux 2.5GB on Windows. big grin smile
