Abit IS7 (Springdale) Motherboard Review Posted
Published: Tuesday, May 27, 2003 | By: DennisIt has been quite a while since an Abit review has been featured here at Ninjalane and I'm sure it won't be the last. In this review we are looking at the Abit IS7 i865PE (Springdale) motherboard. This board supports the new 800Mhz FSB and dual channel DDR400.
Though the interesting part was how you could buy this board in the retail channels long before the official Springdale Launch on May 21st. -
DFI Lan Party PRO875 Review @ 3dXtreme
Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: DennisThis new LanParty series from DFI is actually pretty slick and looks great under the blacklight.
"During our review of the DFI Lan Party Intel PRO875 we stumbled across a problem with Performance Acceleration Technolog (PAT). When populating all four DIMM slots the Intel Canterwood chipset disables PAT. After further testing I contacted DFI, DFI was able to confirm this same issue with their headquarters in Tawain. Using only two sticks of ram PAT was enabled. PAT is a feature that gets enabled by the chipset when certain criteria are met."
Thats good to know, I figured it was enabled all the time. -

Interview with Nathan from TweakNews @ Ohls-Place
Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: Dennis"Nathan if you don't mind saying can you tell the reader just how old you are?
I am 26, but have the heart of a teenager. Not that I'm immature, but I just take life lightly. "
Taking life serious will land you in a mental institute or into a pit of depression in no time flat. -
Intel 845PE roundup @ NordicHardware
Published: Monday, May 26, 2003 | By: Dennis"it's been a while since the chipset was launched but still the 845PE is going strong. Both Intel and SiS have launched Dual Channel DDR chipset but concerning performance the 845PE is still handling these newcomers very well. The fact that the chipset has had time to mature on the market has caused the price to decrease greatly since the launch and 845PE based motherboards can be bought for about 100 $ these days."
I've always liked checking out roundups but have never wanted to write one. -

Monster-Hardware Interview @ Ohls-Place

"If you were a gambler what would you guess the minimum amount of ram a person would need 5 years from now?

I'd say 1GB on Linux 2.5GB on Windows. -
New 800Mhz FSB Pentium Processors
Published: Thursday, May 22, 2003 | By: Dennis"Intel on May 21 added three more 800MHz FSB (front-side bus)-based Pentium 4 processors with clock speeds running at 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8GHz, following the launch of its first 3GHz, 800MHz FSB-supporting P4 on April 14.
Besides the 800MHz FSB standard, the three new processors also support Intel’s Hyper-Threading Technology, which allows one processor to work as a dual-processor set.
Meanwhile, contrary to market rumors, Intel did not introduce a 3.2GHz, 800MHz FSB model together during the launch."
Finally a sub 3.0Ghz P4 that supports Hyperthreading. -
Intel to Cut Springdale Prices
Published: Thursday, May 22, 2003 | By: Dennis"Despite its plan to boost demand by cutting prices, Intel will only cut prices by US$1-2 on June 29, suggesting little pricing pressure in the current market. However, motherboard manufacturers believe that the chip giant may announce larger price cuts by the end of the third quarter if Taiwanese chipset designers introduce 800MHz FSB (front-side bus), dual-channel DDR400 products on time in that quarter and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) launches its K8-core Athlon 64 processors in September as scheduled."
