  • Coolermaster Cooldrive 3 Review @ DataFuse

Published: Thursday, May 22, 2003 | By: Dennis

"It looks sweet, nobody can deny the fact an alu cover with blue led's doesn't cut it, but besides from that, buying yourself a 5$ fan will do the same and even more. Other people might see this as a 5 star product, but I wouldn't spend my money on it, it doesn't really add any value to your system. But if you are going for the looks, you gotta go with the cooldrive 3."
I will admit the fan is rather small.

  • Criticool PowerPlant Review

A couple of sites sent this item in. It's a relay card that will control your watercooling pump. Not a bad idea though I'm not to keen on having 120v running on a card across my PCI bus.
"So far simple, now for the problem on the one I received. Look at those soldier points and tracers. One touch and you have a new hair style."

  • AOpen AX4SG Max Review @ Techware Labs

Here is another Springdale motherboard review.
"The first thing that caught my eye was the shiny detachable aluminum AOpen chipset heatsink located at the middle of the motherboard. I won't lie, style is definitely a major factor when it comes to consumers."
We all like the style. approve smile

  • Springdale Launch Day

Published: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

This was announced some time ago but due to the war in Iraq Intel decided to delay the Springdale launch by a couple of weeks to allow for shipping delays. Well time has passed and despite some companies having products already on the shelf they are officially acknowledging that they exist.

Case in point, the link below goes to the Abit press release for the IS7 (Springdale) motherboard series. The funny thing is that this board has been available in retail channels for the past couple of weeks.

    Any event Springdale has landed!

Published: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

The Intel i865 (Springdale) chipset was officially released today despite many companies already having boards on the market. Digital-Daily takes a look at the Gigabyte i865PE offering.
"All these features and specifications are given a detailed focus in the review on i875P "Canterwood", so we won't dwell on them. Let's better take a look at the overclocking options offered by the i865PE chipset. "
Getting right down to brass tacks I see. big grin smile

  • Overclocking the ATi 9500 Pro @ hardfind

Published: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 | By: Dennis

As some of you may know the 9500 Pro series video card from ATI is built pretty much just like the 9700 Pro with only a few minor differences. Basically the core and memory clocks are slower and the card is clock locked from the factory meaning that you’re going to have a hard time overclocking it. Well as with most things related to the computer industry this problem is pretty easy to get around and hardfind has a guide showing you how to do it.

  • UT2003 Software Rendering

Published: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 | By: Dennis

"That "software rendering" part of the Unreal Tournament 2004 press release last week wasn't in error"
Actually I didn't even see the press release. sad smile though this does sound pretty good.

  • The Hotties of E3 @ The Tech Zone

Published: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 | By: Dennis

8 pages of booth babe goodness! Almost makes you want to go there yourself.
"However, according to the Interactive Digital Software Association (the owners of E3) interactive games are played by just as many girls as boys. So this begs the question, if 50% of your market is female how come E3 booth babes are 100% girls?

The answer is simple: Who the hell cares?"

The site is a little slow at the moment, I wonder why. tongue smile

  • Antec Sonata Review @ Bjorn3D

Published: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 | By: Dennis

"The hard drives mount sideways with screws going into the bottom of each drive. Sounds odd, but it works well. The drives are easy to remove in their 90 degree orientation, which is always a positive feature for the tweaker. The included rubber grommets reduce drive vibration and contribute to the quiet running of the system. "
Not only that but it comes with spots for 2 120mm fans! big grin smile The jury is still out on how moddable the case is but we should find out soon enough. happy smile
