  • Zalman CNPS7000-CU Review @ Maximum OC

"Also, the one last interesting feature of this heat sink is that it can be used on a Pentium 4 as well as Athlon 64 processors! I'm not sure if this is such a great feature though (or if it's just a marketing gimmick), as by the time the Athlon 64 is out, I'm sure a plethora of new heat sinks will be out. But still, if you have a Pentium 4 now and you plan on upgrading later then maybe this would be the heat sink for you."
I guess the search for the perfect Althon 64 heatsink is over. wink smile I'm not sure what the recommended heatsink will look like but I'm pretty sure it will be much lighter than this one. happy smile

  • OpenBSD Gets Defense Funding Pulled

Published: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 | By: Dennis

"The unused portion of a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to fund development of the open-source operating system Open Berkeley Software Design (OpenBSD) has been pulled for unspecified reasons.

The project's leader, Theo de Raadt, said Thursday he was informed by e-mail that the remaining portion of the $2.3 million grant has been pulled. An e-mail message from a professor who is managing the grant did not provide a reason, but de Raadt said he believes the cancellation was prompted by concerns about the money going to too many foreign developers and to antiwar statements that de Raadt made to reporters.

"They decided that they didn't want (our project) anymore," de Raadt said Thursday, less than hour after he received notification. "This is it. It's over." "

Kyle from Hardocp has some pretty good things to say about the nForce3.
"We had some time with nForce3 documentation last week and it of course looks like it might very well be the THE enthusiast board to have this year. It will come at a price though."

  • Windows Server 2003 - The Small Step

Published: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 | By: Dennis

"The release of Windows Server 2003 is a small step forward for the platform—an effort that really should be considered Windows 2000 Server Second Edition. With the exception of Internet Information Services 6.0, there aren't any far-reaching or fundamental changes in the product."
From what I have seen, I'd have to agree.

This is a rather old chipset in motherboard years but now that VIA and Intel have put down the axes I'd imagine that this rather old chipset will have some new life.
At least until the P4x600 comes out. big grin smile
