  • Shuttle nForce2 XPC Review @ TweakTown

Published: Tuesday, April 1, 2003 | By: Dennis

If you are looking for a small form factor "cube" pc Shuttle pretty much made the market.
"Small Form Factor PCs or SFF as its becoming known as of today is making a huge breakthrough in the enthusiast and hobbyist PC markets. Mini PC’s were started by end users who didn’t want to have their PCs in "crappy old" PC cases and avid LAN goers. After all, it hard to lug around tower and Midi tower cases all across the city and even the state."
hehe, they said crappy. big grin smile

  • Soltek SL-75FRN-L Review @ Digital-Daily

Published: Tuesday, April 1, 2003 | By: Dennis

Digital Daily takes at look at an old favorite the SL-75FRN-L motherboard from Soltek.
"Soltek products have been to our test lab several times. It's no wonder - the company has succeeded in firmly settling on the Russian market and attracting a great number of admirers."
Check out our review of the same board for comparison. tongue smile

  • Soltek SL-75MRN-L Review Posted

Most gamers and hardware enthusiasts shy away from motherboards with integrated graphics controllers due to their substandard video and system performance but it would seem that isn't really the case with the nForce2 IGP.

  • Albatron Medusa Ti4800SE Review @ TweakTown

Published: Monday, March 31, 2003 | By: Dennis

Keep in mind this is basically a Ti4400 with AGP 8x support.
"Overclocking on the 4800SE is almost identical to the 4200P Turbo we tested earlier with one exception, memory frequencies were able to go slightly further than the Ti4200P turbo, this is due to the reduced latency of the 4800SE's memory modules."
That would due mostly to the Tiny BGA memory chips used on Ti4400 and above video cards vs. the TSOP memory found on the Ti4200. Still good none the less. tongue smile

  • PC MODS Power Down Protector Review @ Furioustech

Published: Monday, March 31, 2003 | By: Dennis

Ever wanted to keep your fans spinning for a short time after you turn the power off? Well with this small item from PC Mods you can.
"What is the Power Down Protector? Basically what it does is reduce the heat generated by the CPU after the computer is turned off. The great aspect of this device the size, it can be positioned anywhere in your case. The internal time can be set from one to ten minutes you can power up to two fans using the device. So you can still move air across your heatsink and bring cool air into the case of the computer, definitely a good thing. "

  • Dan Reviews a Little Pussy

Published: Monday, March 31, 2003 | By: Dennis

Cat that is, no mercy tongue smilebig grin smile
"While domestic cats are a common feature of many computing environments, IT review sites have proven oddly unwilling to investigate this popular computer room accessory.

I aim to redress the balance with this review, which is almost entirely not just an attempt on my part to troll for more traffic from search engines by using the word "pussy"."

On the other hand I am big grin smileapprove smile and I got to include three instances of the word pussy in this news post, of course only as it would relate to the common household cat.

This review is clean for the workplace.

  • SoundStorm In A Cup

Published: Monday, March 31, 2003 | By: Dennis

The Rojack Pot has a little editorial posted to help shed a little light on nVidia's SoundStorm, the high-end audio option for the nForce.
"It's time to debunk a myth that I myself was guilty of perpetuating for some time - that SoundStorm is NVIDIA's optional high-end audio I/O card for nForce2 motherboards.

First, let's take a look at why people would be confused about SoundStorm - NVIDIA's own tech docs."

Most of the nVidia tech docs are pretty much worthless IMO and don't really provide any usable information.
