Although ALi expects to spin off its PC chipset division as a new subsidiary named ULi Electronics this June or July, it is still undecided regarding what brand name will be used to market the chipsets, according to company spokesperson Eric Chen."

  • VIA updates P4 chipset roadmap

Published: Monday, April 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

    To include 800Mhz stuffs.
"Following its obtaining 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) technology licensing from Intel, VIA Technologies has readjusted its product roadmap, unveiling plans to introduce a complete line of new Pentium 4 chipsets.

In its latest roadmap, VIA changed the names of its three discrete chipsets – the PT400, PT600 and PT800 – to PT800, PT880 and PT890, respectively, and announced the schedule of three corresponding integrated chipsets – the PM800, PM 880 and PM890 – designed for the new P4 platform."

  • Soyo P4X400 Dragon Ultra Review @ Tweak News

Published: Monday, April 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

This is a rather old chipset in motherboard years but now that VIA and Intel have put down the axes I'd imagine that this rather old chipset will have some new life.
At least until the P4x600 comes out. big grin smile

  • Zalman ZM400A-APF Review @ Maximum OC

Published: Monday, April 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

" Now, the last bit... power. The ZM400A isn't the most powerful power supply on the planet, and it isn't meant to be. It's meant to be super quiet and offer a good amount of power. As I had said, I got it super hot and put it under as much load as I could, and it ran without any problem."
    and its black too!

  • Xoxide X-Dreamer Review @ ExtremeMhz

Published: Monday, April 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

"It seems that a majority of PC cases now come pre-modded. This trend is only increasing as many case manufacturers are adding unique features to make their cases more prominent or visually appealing. It's not only a window and a blowhole anymore. Now we have cases with temp sensors and LCD displays built-in."
This goes against everything that is good in the world but I suppose whatever makes it easier to sell cheaply customized case.

  • Intel I875P Canterwood Review @ TweakTown

Published: Monday, April 21, 2003 | By: Dennis

Intel sent out quite a few of these boards for review, I think its time I contacted Intel about why I never get the cool stuff. wink smile
"While not originally intended for the desktop sector, but more towards entry level servers and workstations, the Granite Bay or E7205 chipset was Intel'ts first leap forward for the Pentium 4. Designed as the first Dual Channel DDR SDRAM platform for the Pentium 4 CPU with AGP 8x support, it was a large hit due to its increased memory bandwidth. Now Intel moved this a few steps forward with the Canterwood I875P chipset which we present to you a few days later after the NDA expired due to server issues we were experiencing."
Don't mind the lack of cellpadding it only makes the review that much harder to read.

  • Inspire vs. MegaWorks Speaker Review @ NordicHardware

Published: Friday, April 18, 2003 | By: Dennis

"To make a sequel to the review of Creative's Audigy2/ Audigy2 Platinum Ex and continue on the sound theme, I will now take a closer look at two different speaker systems. The speaker systems are Creative's Inspire 6.1 6700, and with the long name: Cambridge SoundWorks MegaWorks 5.1 550 THX."
I'm still running a set of Altec Lansing 4.1's on my desktop and they appear to work just fine for now, though to be honest I’m still holding out for a good set of computer speakers with optical inputs to be released. So in the meantime I'll be watching all of my movies on the big screen downstairs. big grin smile
