MSI K7N2G-ILSR Review @ PCStats
Published: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 | By: DennisThis is what I call a "full-featured" motherboard and comes with everything under the sun. Though personally I don't like using onboard sound and video on my motherboards the other items like RAID and Ethernet are quite welcome.
" It would be nice if MSI would release a BIOS that unlocks the processor by default because we could not manipulate the multiplier in this case. Overclocking was done via FSB adjustments which can be cumbersome. In any case we began to raise the FSB slowly and started to see stability problems around the 173 MHz FSB mark. "
The lack of BIOS level multiplier unlocking would appear to be more of a common occurrence than rare exception with the nForce2 boards that we are seeing now, the Soltek SL-75FRN-L was the same way. -
Raptor Geforce 4 Ti 4200 Review @ 3DXtreme
Published: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 | By: DennisThis card has to have one of the longest names in history, "Mad Dog Multimedia Raptor Geforce 4 Ti 4200". This card can be found on the budget shelf at your local CompUSA. I'd be afraid of getting rabies.

Abit IT7 Max2 Review @ TweakTown
Published: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 | By: Dennis"For the extreme user who does a lot of swapping of their hardware (such as RAM, video cards and other additional devices) ABIT has placed both a power on button and a reset button on the board itself. This is also useful if you aren’t going to put your computer inside a case, how you have a Power and Reset button on the board."
Man that's a pretty good idea , and here I am stuck using my needle nose pliers. -
ABIT BE7-RAID Review @ [H]ard|OCP
Published: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 | By: DennisThe Intel i845PE is still the best currently available chipset for the Pentium 4. Granted there are a few Granite Bay boards on the market but they are still a little too elusive to consider mainstream.
" The BE7-RAID is part of ABIT’s standard line of boards, with fewer add on features than its big brother the IT7-MAX2, but it is certainly not disappointing with its rich mix of features at an attractive price point." -
JavaScript Error
Published: Wednesday, February 19, 2003 | By: DennisSome of you might get a JavaScript error when clicking on the "past results" link under the Ninjalane Web Poll. This is due to your browser not downloading the new JavaScript file. To solve the problem simply hold down the shift key and hit the reload or refresh button (depending on your browser).
Look for more new features in the next couple of days. -
Pentium 4 Overclocking Adventure @ TweakTown
Published: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 | By: DennisThey speak of hobbies like its something you do for fun.
"Well awhile ago, a few “computer junkies” got together looking for that new breathtaking hobby. As they juggled their minds, they looked at a few computer magazines with CPU listings. “P2 266”, “P2 300”, “P2 333” - Oh, could it be possible to take a P2 266 to perhaps 333MHz?"
Overclocking maybe the most expensive hobby known to man, cept for maybe Nitro R/C trucks. -
New SL-75FRN-L Bios
Published: Monday, February 17, 2003 | By: Denniscoolmhz from the Ninjalane Message Forums posted a link to a new BIOS for the Soltek SL-75FRN. According to him the BIOS adds an extra 11MHz to the FSB along with allowing you to adjust the AGP clock from 50 to 100Mhz.
Here is a direct download to the BIOS file.
I haven't tried this one out yet so flash with care. -
Crucial DDR400 Memory Modules
Published: Monday, February 17, 2003 | By: DennisI just got word that Crucial is building PC3200 memory modules due to popular demand.
"PC3200 is designed for use in motherboards that require a 200MHz front-side bus with an effective front-side bus speed of 400MHz. Crucial’s PC3200 modules have components at 400MHz (200Mhz x 2). They are not overclocked components."
According to the website these are however CAS3 DDR modules so they might not be very overclocker friendly. -

SiS Scrapping 0.13 Plans
Published: Monday, February 17, 2003 | By: DennisInstead of moving to the 0.13 process SiS has decided to focus on making some money instead. Not a bad plan, lets hope it pans out.
"Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) will discontinue all production and development plans at 0.13 microns and below within its own facilities and may begin taking contract-manufacturing orders in the future, confirmed company chairman John Hsuan."
