  • RV250 and R300 chips on July 17

Published: Monday, July 15, 2002 | By: Dennis

I heard rumors of a GeForce 4 Ultra coming out pretty soon as well but if ATI sticks to this schedule it will be some pretty exciting times.

"With the earlier product rollout, ATI is expected to enjoy stronger sales during the summer vacation season than rival Nvidia."

  • Topless Car Wash

Published: Friday, July 12, 2002 | By: Dennis

Daisy Mace's car wash located in Moscow Idaho is really very unique. The people that clean your car are topless. Not only guys but girls as well. Though the strangest thing about this article is that a news site in the UK posted it!

Now for the big question. Should I take the 5-hour drive to Moscow and get my car washed. tongue smile

  • 2.8GHz Pentium 4 to be Shipped Early

Published: Friday, July 12, 2002 | By: Dennis

Sorry for the 2 day old news but I felt it was important.

"Intel Corp. is pushing up the release of a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 to this summer in hopes of boosting sagging sales of its flagship PC processor, sources close to the company say. "

The cool part about all of this is that older/slower Pentium 4's will be discounted even further.

  • Matrox Parhelia Review @ Digit Life

Published: Friday, July 12, 2002 | By: Dennis

I really must applaud the Digit Life crew on this review; they have provided a ton of graphs and, screenshots of the Parhelia in action along with the content to back up their findings. This is really one of the most in-depth reviews of a video card that I've seen in a really long time.

  • "Northwood" Celerons??

Published: Thursday, July 11, 2002 | By: Dennis

Given the current overclockability of the "Northwood" line of Pentium 4's you have to wonder if the new Celerons will share the same ability.

" Sources have seen processors marked "Intel Confidential" which use a 1.5 volt core and even appear to be fitted with a 512K cache."

They must have a large stockpile of bad "Northwood" cores lying around. tongue smile

  • The Now "Dynamic" Moore's Law

Published: Thursday, July 11, 2002 | By: Dennis

According to Mr. Moore himself unless we can get a technology upgrade the current processor trend dubbed "Moore's Law" will tend to slow down.

The article is a pretty good read if this sort of thing interests you.

  • Software Priacy and You

Published: Thursday, July 11, 2002 | By: Dennis

Hey got a copy of Windows2000? Not something Microsoft would like for you to say but happens none the less, and if you think about it Microsoft kind of condoned it back in the day.

"If piracy ends with Microsoft, the circle will have been completed, according to Gartenberg.

"The piracy problem has always been widespread, since the earliest days of the personal computer," he noted. "When one of the first programs was available, it was massively copied and handed around, and the young programmer who created it took out trade ads encouraging people to pay."

He added, "That was a little kid named Bill Gates." "

  • Cable Company Crackdown

Published: Thursday, July 11, 2002 | By: Dennis

It would seem that cable companies are getting a little upset that subscribers to their internet service are setting up 802.11b networks and sharing the bandwidth with their friends and neighbors.

Kind of ironic how cable Internet providers, providers of shared internet, are getting upset that a single user is sharing their connection with others.

  • VIA P4PB Motherboard Review @ Legion Hardware

Published: Wednesday, July 10, 2002 | By: Dennis

You know you have a VIA freebee when the review comes out the same day as the preview. VIA pulled a fast one on us completely skipping the DDR333 chipset for a DDR400/333 flavor. Do check out the benchmarks they are quite amazing.

  • VIA Announces P4PB 400 Mainboard

Published: Wednesday, July 10, 2002 | By: Dennis

This is quite an amazing chipset supporting AGP 8x, DDR400 and DDR333, Firewire, LAN, ATA133 and both Pentium 4 FSB flavors. I'm going to guess its illegal too. tongue smile

What do you suppose will happen if the JEDEC decides that DDR400 is stupid and pushes for DDRII instead??
