Daisy Mace has been making headlines left and right with her topless car washing business and the saga continues. Moscow's city council voted five-to-one to ban public nudity thus allowing women to only show clevage in public.

"Other critics say the ban will affect women wearing bikinis." shock smile

  • Consumer Distrust of Online Authentication Systems

Published: Wednesday, July 17, 2002 | By: Dennis

The way I see it if you can't ensure that something simple like a credit card transaction is completely secure how are we to believe that a personal and unique online ID won't be compromised as well.

"Study findings, made available to CNET News.com, also show that the majority of consumers with identity or authentication service accounts were unaware they had them, and that many consumers had signed up for accounts because they are required in order to use online services. "

  • Intel Cost Cutting - 4000 Jobs Lost

Published: Wednesday, July 17, 2002 | By: Dennis

"Intel said Tuesday that it will cut 4,000 jobs as the chip giant seeks to lower its expenses amid a slower-than-expected economic recovery, disappointing second-quarter earnings and no clear signs of an upturn."

Funny how you never hear of Intel hiring but it makes national news when jobs are lost. sad smile

  • Pass Me a Cup of A/C

CNN has an article speaking of the 100 years of mechanical air conditioning. I didn't realize this but in 1902 a guy by the name of Willis Haviland Carrier changed the world when discovering that by blowing air over pipes filled with cold water you could create a room that is both cooler and considerably drier.

  • Who is Tougher??

Published: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 | By: Dennis

I have posted a new poll question (located to the left under the nav bar) asking who is tougher, Asuka or Iria. For those of you that don't know who either of the two girls are here is a little background.

Asuka is the pilot of Eva 02 in the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series.
Iria is a bounty hunter in her own series where she takes on a very tough creature called the Zeiram. Pictures of both girls are shown below.

  • HaxX0r the Planet with VPN

Published: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 | By: Dennis

A well known hacker group calling themselves Hactivismo have developed a piece of software that will allow anyone to "get around" web filtering software and remain completely anonymous and untraceable. Sound to good t0o be true?

" Mixter's software -- known as a "protocol" in technical terms -- would allow ordinary computer users to set up a decentralized version of virtual private networks (VPNs). VPNs are used by governments and many companies to create secure networks that are fenced off from the public Internet. "

    They go on to say...

" Hactivismo says it can defeat attempts to restrict Web surfing to controversial Internet news and human rights sites by disguising such sites to make them look innocuous. "

So the internet is supposed to be free but with advances in "snooping" technology your going to have to create a private internet for yourself to ensure your privacy.

"It may also raise concerns among Western police agencies, who fear the technology could be used by criminals to swap child pornography or by Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network to plot new attacks around the globe. "

    Good Point sad smile

Cool Fan, Bad Heatsink and really nothing more needs to be said.

" Now in the past it has been pretty hard to find any faults with Swiftech heatsinks... they are well made, the bases are superb, and the fans are usually pretty large and powerful. Unfortunately, this time around there is one aspect of the MCX4000 that could have been done another way."
