  • Soltek SL-85DRS P4 DDR333 Motherboard

Published: Friday, November 9, 2001 | By: Dennis

tongue smile Most of the preview reviews of the SIS 645 chipset have shown some very impressive memory scores. Now if you put that chip on a P4 motherboard, then throw in some Over Clocking controls, you will get a product with some potential. It would appear that Soltek has done just that.

  • 533MHz Intel Chip

Published: Friday, November 9, 2001 | By: Dennis

Despite being in the middle of a P4 supply problem Intel is pushing to have their 533MHz platform out ahead of schedule. This is some pretty good news and a sign that Intel has put on their aggressive "hat".

  • Dual Monitor FAQ Updated

Published: Thursday, November 8, 2001 | By: Dennis

I got a question the other day about dual desktops using a GeForce3 and GeForce2 MX PCI. Normally you wouldn't think this to be a problem but for some strange reason the video driver likes to "hide" the second display adaptor from view instead of jumping right to it.

  • Intel PR Interview @ Maximum Hardware

Published: Thursday, November 8, 2001 | By: Dennis

This is a pretty interesting interview in that it covers some of the current issues with Intel and their products. I think everyone will like this quote. "If you put large tires on a Pinto, it is still a Pinto." big grin smile

  • 0.13 Pentium 4 at Comdex

Published: Wednesday, November 7, 2001 | By: Dennis

The new 0.13-micron process seems to be the next big step for Intel and they are going to demo the technology at Comdex this year. Intel claims that this new process will help the Pentium 4 break 3GHz by next year. Also on the demo list is the 0.13-micron server-grade Pentium III that is similar to the Tualatin that we have already seen.

  • Slow News Week

Published: Tuesday, November 6, 2001 | By: Dennis

Good tech news is getting hard to find these days, which is kind of strange considering the time of year. I suppose we can blame it on what I will call "The Tech Slowdown Syndrome". or TTSS for short.

Of course if you have any tech news, send it in

  • Multi-Network NIC

Published: Sunday, November 4, 2001 | By: Dennis

Something I saw over at the OCP today got me thinking. What if you could have a dual-homed server that only used one NIC? As it would turn out Intel is all over that.

  • .NET Application beats Java

Published: Thursday, November 1, 2001 | By: Dennis

It is an age-old battle, what is better VB or Java. Of course the hard cores in each camp have their own opinions on the subject and it is amazing how with just a few tweaks things can get faster for either side.

This is an interesting article not because of the VB vs. Java dispute but how Macromedia is planning on moving Cold Fusion to a java platform instead of keeping with its native P code.

  • ASP application used for security

Published: Thursday, November 1, 2001 | By: Dennis

An ASP application is now available that can help automate the security of your network. It works by scanning the interior of your network for some of the more common AND uncommon vulnerabilities. I am skeptical by nature, but given what they say, it might have the goods. I'd be happy to review it! big grin smile
