"Code Red" strikes again
Published: Monday, August 6, 2001 | By: DennisSomebody out there isn't playing nice; a new variant of the original "code red" is out infecting IIS servers across the globe.
Out of curiosity I checked the apache log on my Linux box the other night and found that there are many IIS machines on the @home network and quite a few of them are infected. Here is the recommendation on what do to if you think you are at risk. Download and run this program from Norton CRDetect.exe, if there is a problem. Update virus definitions and scan for CR Trojan.Patch IIS, and Reboot. -
Dell to Drop Linux from Home PC Line
Published: Sunday, August 5, 2001 | By: DennisIt is a very sad day for the Dell loving Linux users. I would appear that due to a lack of interest Dell is no longer going to offer Linux on its home line of PC's. That's is too bad, though then again it was only Red Hat.

Blow your speakers
Published: Friday, August 3, 2001 | By: DennisYou've heard about it, here is a preliminary report about the new anti-copying scheme that Sony is Testing. Apparently, if you play back a copied CD, you can do serious damage to your ears or audio equipment. I give it two weeks before the issue is taken care of.

[H]ard|Drive Coolers
Published: Friday, August 3, 2001 | By: DennisI found some interesting news at the OCP today. Kyle is actually using [H]arddrive coolers. I seem to remember that he was always going off about how if your case is well cooled you don't need one (which is true for the most part) and to spend your money in better ways. I say if it gets hot and can be damaged by that heat cool it down I will admit though he did choose some pretty good ones.
See the photos here and here
We at ninjalane are partial to the Vantec under-the-drive coolers, they are quiet and work very well. -

Published: Thursday, August 2, 2001 | By: DennisStompted as an interesting piece on CounterStrike and PunkBuster. As some of you know PunkBuster is a program for CS that is supposed to keep people from cheating. Well it seems that the CS ClanRDW has posted a "blacklist" of the people that have been caught cheating on PB servers. This "blacklist have been causing quite an uproar.

Thanks
Published: Thursday, August 2, 2001 | By: DennisI would like to say thanks to all that wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday. I pretty much took the day off from work and hung out with friends and family, I even got in 5 hours of Quake3. It was quite a blast. I would also like to suggest to everyone that if you can take some time for yourself on your birthday. It only happens once a year, and what better excuse to do whatever you like (of course observing all applicable laws, rules/regulations, etc..).
