  • 5 Dual Via Boards in Review

Published: Monday, February 12, 2001 | By: Dennis

Digit-Life has put 5 Dual Processor Via boards under review.
The review spans an entire spectrum of Dual boards from the "ATA66 only" boards to the iWill ATA100 + DDR. The thing I find interesting thing about his review is the inclusion of the DDR memory platform and how it compares to the other boards in this class.

  • The History of Nvidia

Published: Saturday, February 10, 2001 | By: Dennis

Browsing though the Hardforum I came across a post that talked about Nvidia, and how they had ties with Sega.
In the early years, Microsoft almost destroyed the now video technology leader when they released the DirectX software for the PC.

Following one of the posted links I found an article that talked about Nvidia's history and what made them the company they are today. Quite interesting to say the least I would suggest checking it out.

  • The Attraction to Counter-Strike

Published: Friday, February 9, 2001 | By: Dennis

Shugashack has put together a nice article about what makes Counter-Strike so popular. Is it the guns? The realistic sounds? or is it the Team play? I don?t really know you will have to read and discover for yourself.

I find this piece interesting as well since Shugashack originally spawned around the popularity of the original Quake series.

  • Stealth Case Mod

Published: Thursday, February 8, 2001 | By: Dennis

We have posted yet another cool case mod in the projects section. This time we take a "stealthy" looking case, increase the airflow with 5 extra fans, and when we were done have a case that looks like the factory designed it that way.
    Check out the Stealth Mod

  • New Detonator Drivers from Nvidia

Published: Monday, February 5, 2001 | By: Dennis

The new Detonator 3 drivers have been released.

I installed them on my machine at work and was surprised to find out that when I started up Netscape6 it froze my machine. Looks like a new bug that probably won't get fixed any time soon. Though I'm sure all of you loyal IE users really won't care.

  • Creative Geforce2MX DDR

Published: Monday, February 5, 2001 | By: Dennis

When news of this card was released I thought it was going to be one of the better versions of the GF2MX out there. It would appear that even though the card is armed with DDR memory, the 64-bit memory bus tends to hinder what performance there was to gain. They must have learned from Matrox.

  • Refresh Rate Fixes for Win2k

Published: Monday, February 5, 2001 | By: Dennis

Videocarddrivers.com (long URL) has posted a refresh rate fix for us Nvidia owners. By default many games will reset the monitor refresh rate to 60Hz, this isn't really that bad unless you are accustomed to having your desktop refresh rate set to 100Hz like me.

  • New Motherboards from Tyan

Published: Friday, February 2, 2001 | By: Dennis

Two new motherboards form Tyan will be hitting the streets soon.

The Tiger 230, Designed for the Entry-Level Workstation market.
The Tiger 200, Targeted at Entry-Level Desktops and Rackmount Servers.

A while back we posted a link to some "sneak-peak" photos and specs of these two boards, and both seem to be very similar in design and features. The 230 takes after the VP6 in style and design. The 200 on the other hand looks to be FWD-P3C4XD with some extra features.

  • Nvidia Powered Laptop

Published: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 | By: Dennis

Finally a high-end graphics chip has made it into the laptop market. Rumor had it that the MX chip was a prototype design for laptops that never made it to the market. Though the time and research has paid off. "GeForce2 Go" is the power behind this new video chip for laptops; I can't wait to see it in person.

SharkyExtreme has an excellent article acknowledging Apple as an industry leader in hardware and software design. A nice read...
