After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Closer look

To make mounting of external radiators easier Lian Li has included two removable covers on the top of the case near the back.  These covers are held in place by 4 screws and are near invisible unless you’re looking for them.  Top mounted radiators are ideal for a variety of reasons the more important being the overall size of the radiator.

If you wish to use interior radiators in the bottom Lian Li has made the process rather easy since the lower drive bays are removable via thumbscrews, contrast this with them being riveted in the past.

The LianLi V1010 also includes a tilt out and removable motheboard tray which can be removed in seconds by removing two thumbscrews. This makes installing and working on your system much easier and more convenient. There are slots cut into the tray to help with cooling but also double for routing cables.
The airflow in Lian Li cases is among the best and the new models are no different. The five front bezels are perforated and include removable filters.  The seven expansion bays are slotted to allow for extra airflow.  There is also an option to add a fan for the video card area, which will help with the dual card setups nicely.

The V1010 is divided into separate heat zones also ensure your system is insulated from outside heat sources like the power supply and HDDs.
